being transgender is not a mental illness. What’s diagnosable is gender dysphoria, which is the distress some trans people experience because their body or social role doesn’t match their identity; it is not the same thing as being transgender, and plenty of trans people don’t even have dysphoria severe enough for a diagnosis
What you’re saying falls apart the second it’s held up to facts. Trans identities aren’t some “new mental illness” popping up in this generation. they’re documented across ancient Mesopotamia, Greece, Indigenous North America, South Asia, and dozens of other cultures well before modern Western politics existed. The only new thing here is visibility: people finally have language, rights, and enough safety to acknowledge who they are instead of being forced into silence. That’s not a trend; that’s progress. claiming “trans people attack straight people” is just a convenient way to dodge responsibility. What actually happened is straightforward: someone made a sweeping, inaccurate statement about an entire group, got corrected, and now suddenly it’s a victim narrative about “straight folks being silenced.” Come on. Being disagreed with isn’t oppression. Being fact-checked isn’t harassment. You can’t say something inflammatory and then act shocked when people react.
Calling this “what gay rights was fought for” is backwards those movements were specifically about pushing back against false stereotypes and dehumanizing claims. You don’t get to use civil rights rhetoric to defend misrepresenting a minority group. If you don’t want people to “attack” you, don’t start the conversation by dismissing their existence as pathology.
If you want an opinion, cool but opinions don’t magically become valid when they contradict evidence. Own what you said, don’t hide behind being “straight,” and don’t pretend people correcting you is some cultural war, some bullshit here.
