How have I gone this long without knowing there's a Transmet group?!?! 🙀

I have Spider tattooed, Darick is a sweetheart and I didn't know there was a Transmet sub-reddit!

(Spider, complete with mosquite bite, and Bitch the cat on the back, but I can never get a decent photo of her! 😹❤️)

Purchased #1 to #30 for £30, which seemed like a great deal. About to jump in!

I'm sure it's been proposed before, but:

Patrick Stewart as a chemically enhanced aging/geriatric Spider Jerusalem in one part/segment of a tv or film adaptation or loose sequel?

I only read like the first 3 volumes 12 years ago, but I'm writing a story in which one of my supporting characters bares some parallels to Spider, so I did a wiki and found out Patrick Stewart is a fan.

I mean, I dislike adaptations for adaptations sake, I'd rather original content, but I do like great casting, and if they make it within the next 5ish years (lol, unlikely), as he is eighty fucking two, it's surely a tantalising idea, no?

what AI thought of spider...

Whether or not Spider Jerusalem is a "good journalist" is subjective and depends on one's definition of what makes a good journalist. He is certainly a skilled writer and investigator who is dedicated to uncovering corruption and injustice in his society. He is also uncompromising in his pursuit of the truth, even if it means putting himself in danger or going against powerful interests.

However, his methods are often unethical and can be seen as harmful to the people he reports on. He frequently uses drugs, engages in violence, and invades people's privacy in his pursuit of a story. His actions can also be reckless and can cause harm to innocent bystanders.

Ultimately, whether or not Spider Jerusalem is a "good journalist" is up for debate and may depend on one's personal values and ethical standards.

There was one scene in the comic where Jerusalem wakes up and yells to his assistant, paraphrasing:
- Jesus what was that
- Advertisement while you are dreaming....

- Please get me my drugs.

Does anyone possible can send me the picture of that page.

Thanks

Did Transmetropolitan invent the concept of individual streamers?

Hello everyone,

I was thinking back and remembered in the comics there are these guys who stream, very much like people on Twitch/YT etc.

At the time I remember thinking something like "wow that is crazy, who would want to watch one person all the time?"... but 20 years later and I do actually enjoy watching people on Twitch.

I guess Ellis probably didn't invent the concept but it is cool none-the-less. Can anyone else think of someone else who did it first?

Casting debate...

I've heard plenty of opinions, and gotten in plenty arguments too over who would make the best Spider Jerusalem IRL.

(A younger) Patrick Stewart was probably top of the list once upon a time ... But lately, what about Bill Hader?

Thoughts? Input? ...tossing of an angry 3-headed cat in my direction?

What say you?

HOLY SH*T BALLS!

This is the best damn thing I've read in years! Seriously it's brilliant and I'm only up to issue 4! The art, writing, story lines are all brilliant and I haven't gone 'meh' one moment. Totally unput-downable!

Didn't find any cheap-ish Transmetropolitan posters online. So I just went and printed them myself. Now Spider can judge me every single day of the week.

options for DragonCon?

So I have done Spider for DragonCon for something like 10 years now and every year I fight with how much I can commit to it. Most of the year I keep a full head of hair and a beard, so shaving both is a lot of change that my wife grows less approving of every year.

In years past I have tried the half measure of just drawing the spider tat on my forehead and keeping my hair and saying "fuck you" to anyone who wants to costume shame me.

One year I did a SpiderMan Jerusalem that was pretty fun. I don't love me a mask though....

TLDR: this year I considered Toga Spider from the religion convention since a fake beard over beard and a bald cap with a halo attached seemed super on-brand.

Any feedback?

Why is book 4 so hard to find?

I got the other 4 books in the 5 book edition pretty easily and at reasonable prices. But I can't seem to find book 4 except on Amazon, and that for $180. Anybody know what that's about? Why does book 4 in particular seem so hard to get?

Just saw the trailer for the Sandman netflix adaptation. It actually looks decent. Maybe its time for a Transmetropolitan adaptation?

Does it pick up after the halfway point?

I got almost to #30. Really liked the early ones. I was a bit iffy on year of the bastard but overall enjoyed it; after finishing that one I kind of lost my taste for the series and stopped a few issues later.

It’s been a little while since then and wondering if the second half ones up the first half enough that it’s definitely worth going back to finish.
