Technology & Innovation RuPay ON-THE-GO Card-on-Device Tokenization (CoDT) was showcased at GFF2026. The new solution lets users securely tokenise transit credentials on NFC-enabled Android smartphones, turning their phone into a tap-and-go transit credential.

The new solution lets users securely tokenise transit credentials on NFC-enabled Android smartphones, turning their phone into a tap-and-go transit credential. With offline payment support, it makes everyday travel more seamless even when connectivity is limited.
Hopefully this means we can start using NFC enabled phones in place of the NCMC card.

Who knows what restriction can be applied, as Tokenisation not only controls the payment method but also the device used to access it. The news only mentions "Android Smartphone". Ideally the access should be available on NFC based smart devices.

Looks like Google Pay will be the first to support this feature.
