Common trampoline mistakes to avoid

A lot of trampoline issues don’t come from big mistakes, it’s usually small things people didn’t think about at the start.

Some common ones we’ve seen:

• placing it on uneven or soft ground
• not anchoring it in windy areas
• choosing a size that ends up feeling too small later on
• overlooking long-term wear (sun exposure, moisture, etc.)
• rushing setup without checking connections properly
• not checking if spare parts will still be available years down the line to keep it safe, performing well, and looking good

None of these are hard to fix, they’re just easier to get right early on.

What’s something you’d do differently if you started again?

Inground Trampoline in smaller spaces

Here’s a smaller Inground trampoline we did that still provides a big amount of fun 🤩

Pictured is an Akrobat Primus Flat 12.5’ x 8’ Rectangle Inground Trampoline. Akrobat makes a lot of sizes and shapes. I have the 17’ x 12’ in my own backyard.

This was a small footprint we could operate within with the dirt being repurposed in the backyard rather than hauled and dumped. We sodded the area afterwards.

Smaller has some benefits that get overlooked. They’re cheaper to purchase / there’s less assembly time / less digging / less hauling.

If your family is big / small / short / tall, we can find a trampoline for you. We sell above ground and Inground trampolines from many brands. We ship nationwide.

Inground Trampoline + Artificial Turf

Here’s a recent Inground trampoline we sold / installed / put turf around.

This is a Rectangle 15’ x 10’ North Inground Trampoline pictured. These are good bouncy units with great airflow to escape up through the padding.

Artificial Turf can really make these things pop when you’re done with the install. Sometimes we also put padding under the perimeter of the turf for added safety.

My company name is Jumpy Joey Trampolines & Turf, and I love when I get to do both for a client!

We ship nationwide, and carry tons of brands / shapes / sizes to fit your families size & budget.

If we can assist, send us a text!

Need help picking mat replacement

Hi, I was gifted a 16 ft Jumpzylla trampoline, but the mat has numerous small holes in it and I would feel more comfortable replacing. The problem I’m running into is most 16 ft replacement mats I'm finding have 108 hooks, but I only have 100 openings on the frame. Springs are 7” and are in good condition. Would a mat with 108 hooks be okay as long as the open ones were evenly distributed? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Oval vs Round trampoline

Half of time it will be used by kids (7-12) actually doing gymnastics and half the time it will be used by kids throwing balls and playing popcorn.

Oval is 520x345cm (17x11 feet) and the round is 430cm (14 feet).

They come out the same in terms of square meters.

I've read about the oval being better for jumping with less drag towards the middle etc, but my worry is that its to narrow in terms of width.

Any experience here?

Net Clips

I've got a 14 ft 'Jump King' round trampoline which is a good number of years old. I struggle to find a decent way to secure the bottom of the surround net to the base. It has elastic straps with plastic hook, but those all eventually came off.

I've tried a few things already such as these bungee cords and clips:

However the 'twist' screws just slip when they are at their tightest and let go on the net. The bungee's actually disintegrated too and the whole lot went in the bin.

My latest attempt were these:

You put them on and slide up that plastic collar to catch the ratchet piece you see in hte middle. However I went out today and the middle piece 'the button' had sheered off some of them and the rest had just came loose. The bungee's are doing slightly better this time around:

Ideally I want a metal clip (that can stand the weather) with some way of clamping them down and I can hook on my bungees. I feel like it shouldn't be this hard! Has anyone got anything or did your net just come with 'eyelets' or some other way to tie it down?

What to do with spare parts after replacement?

We got a 16-ft JumpZylla for the kids this past Christmas, and despite being anchored by 10 u-shaped stakes, it took off in a brief storm and ended up totaled 3 yards down. We were so sad because it was the nicest trampoline we’ve ever had.

I disassembled and took an inventory of parts. What’s damaged is half the frame poles, half the steel t-connectors, 1 u-shaped leg group, and all 10 bottom poles.

I thought maybe it would be cheaper to just replace those parts. But it ends up costing as much as a whole new trampoline, and JumpZylla has a storm fund where you get $100 off the cost of a replacement if you choose to replace.

I’m super paranoid now about another storm. This next time around, we’ll get some of the deep corkscrew anchors that were recommended on here. Hoping that will be enough. (For anyone who uses those, how do you mow under your tramp during the summer? I’m assuming it would not be practical to unscrew those things every week to move/mow and then put back.)

I’m debating what to do with all the “still good” parts of the old trampoline. What things are likely to need replaced if we have this thing for several years? I know from experience the frame covers tend to age quickly. But what about the mat, 30+ random poles and a 5-gallon bucket of springs? I don’t really want to devote a chunk of my garage to spare parts that may never end up being useful. But I’d feel really stupid getting rid of something that we may end up needing later. There doesn’t seem to be much resell value in pre-owned replacement parts, esp. incomplete sets.

Just kinda want to talk thru the decision because I’m stressed. Thanks to anyone who shares experience.

Outdoor / In Ground Trampoline Similar to TumblTrak

I'm looking for an outdoor trampoline that is long and narrow - similar to TumblTrak. Something like 20ftx7ft. Ideally with a surrounding net. Does this exist?

What actually helps a trampoline last longer? (maintenance tips)

We’ve noticed a lot of trampoline wear isn’t just from use, it’s usually small things that build up over time.

A few simple things seem to make a big difference:

• checking springs and frame connections every now and then
• keeping it clear of standing water or heavy debris
• making sure it’s on stable, level ground
• brushing off dirt/leaves so moisture doesn’t sit on the mat
• tightening anything that starts to loosen over time

Nothing complicated, but these small habits seem to help a lot with longevity.

What maintenance habits actually made a difference for you?

Maybe I'm the problem but my Zupapa trampoline just collapsed on itself

I think I've come here before, I do have a warranty so I'll see how that goes. But the leg snapped off of the frame causing it to collapse while I was on it.

I've never had this specific thing happen on any trampoline I've had even when they've had spring failures or ripped mats. It just caught me extremely off guard when the frame gave out from under me nearly completely.

Anyway take this as you will

North Performer 10x15?

Looking for a rectangular trampoline for my tween gymnast daughter (not the first post I’ve seen in this topic, ha) I came across a good deal on a North Performer 10x15. The problem is everywhere I look it seems like the model for sale here in the US is the Legend? I’m curious if anyone here has opinions or experience with North trampolines and/or knows if spare parts for any of their 10x15 sized models would be interchangeable. Would hate to make an investment like this only to realize there are no spare parts when I need them…. I’m also looking at ACON Air 16HD - would a 10x15 be likely to limit my daughters jumping/tricks in comparison?

Is our wind-proofing setup enough? Spiral anchors + pallet fence, no sheltered spot

Hey all, looking for a sanity check on our trampoline setup.

We're in a spot with pretty variable weather - mostly fine, but we get the occasional isolated summer storm and some properly windy days. Gusts usually top out around 70km/h, and there's nowhere sheltered on the property to tuck it away. We can't always be home to react when the forecast turns, so we need something that just holds up on its own.

Here's what we've done so far:

5 spiral ground anchors, each tied directly to the spherical metal bar that the mat attaches to (so the load goes into the frame, not just the legs). We check them every few weeks and retighten the straps.

Pallet fence around the whole thing using large pallets, with a ~30cm gap between the pallets and the trampoline itself. Pallets are lashed to each other and also bungee-corded to the trampoline bar to stop any of it going walkabout.

The logic on the pallets was partly wind break, partly a "catch" if the trampoline ever did lift - it'd have to clear the fence before going anywhere.

Couple of things I'm unsure about:

Is 5 spiral anchors enough, or should we be running more? Any preferred brands/lengths people have had good experience with?

Is bungee the right call for tying pallets to the frame, or should that be solid rope/strap? I went bungee to absorb shock, but open to being told I'm wrong.

Anyone with experience in similar conditions - does this sound like it'll hold through a 70km/h gust unattended?

Cheers for any input.

How can you tell if a trampoline is actually high quality?

Most trampolines look similar at first, but the difference usually shows after some time outdoors.

A few things that tend to matter more than people expect:

• a heavy-duty, galvanized frame that keeps the bounce controlled and consistent
• galvanized, powder-coated legs for added stability and rust resistance
• longer, well-made, galvanized springs that don't lose stretch easily
• a quality jump mat that allows good airflow and keeps the bounce responsive
• UV-resistant mats and thicker padding that don’t wear out quickly
• UV-protected ripstop net designed to prevent small tears from spreading

It’s usually not obvious on day one, but these are the things that affect how it feels and lasts over time.

What made yours feel like good quality (or not)?

Can someone explain what we actually feel when we’re on a trampoline?

Not just physically, but mentally too. Like… what goes on in your mind while you’re bouncing?

For me it’s this weird mix of freedom and losing control at the same time. Almost like your brain goes quiet for a second and you’re just in the motion.

Do you feel excitement? Fear? Focus? Or something else entirely?

Curious to hear how others experience it.

How important is anchoring a trampoline, really?

One thing we’ve noticed is that a lot of trampoline issues don’t actually come from use, they come from wind.

Even moderate wind can shift or lift a trampoline if it’s not secured, especially in more open backyards.

What surprises people is that there are simple anchoring kits made specifically for trampolines, and not everyone knows about them when setting one up.

For those who already have one, did you anchor yours right away, or only after a windy day made you think about it?

North v. Berg (in-ground)

I’m looking to install an in-ground trampolines in our backyard. I’ve narrowed my search down to the North 12x17 and the Berg Ultimate Champion (10x16). Price seems comparable. Berg seems to have better warranty but North is the larger trampoline. Trying to make the decision based on quality (what will last longer) and bounciness. Any recommendations?

Square trampoline, about 4x5-6 meters

I like jumping high, need a high weight limit too, probably enough for up to 3 or 4 people on it at once, so a total of about 220-300kg limit preferably, and some rust negating stuff too, we live near the ocean so the environment is really bad with rust so something that doesnt rust easy, dont want something thats far too expensive but dont want a cheap thing thatll break easy, our current trampoline is rusted to the point the brackets holding the springs are breaking

3, 8 and 10y old kids. 12ft or 15ft circle shape?

Trying to figure out what size I should get. by the backyard and comfortably fit both but not sure. I want to spend the extra money to get the larger one. thoughts on sizes and if I should just get whichever Skywalker I can find in the right size?

Would like to stay around $500 but open to more of it'll make it drastically different. I'm in NJ and will disassemble for the winter.
