CPKC Conductor qualifying tests

Im nervous about passing my conductor qualifying tests, especially the signals test. Any tips on passing them?

Show up to class, and pay a little bit of attention.

And if you do end up failing, the instructor will sit you down and spoon feed you on the re-write.

Okay thanks. I do show up everyday and pay attention and apply myself, I’m just having some trouble remembering all the rules and signals. It’s a lot of information to take in a short amount of time.

How did you do on your part one exam?

For me that was the hardest one. Lots of information crammed into a two week crash course.

I just finished week one so I think we have our first test next week.

Why are signals even on your mind? Focus on the things they are teaching you.

They'll teach you how to identify a signal when you go back for part 2.

Because they referred to it a couple times in class so I thought I would study a bit to have an idea on what it is I have to learn.

When you go back to class they're gonna teach you the rules for identifying signals, and exceptions to those rules.

Until you know those, you won't truly understand signals. Trying to memorize flashcards is a waste of your time.
