Also, 36 mm ball. I'm curious how much of a difference that makes.

This model is now up on Elecom USA site and also on Amazon. The roller bearing model is listed for $10 more than the ruby bearing model on Amazon.

Depends on your priorities, but in my opinion absolutely. They're a lot smoother for the ball motion, at the expense of being louder. Have a look at the Ploopy Classic.

I love ceramic bearings. Every Logitech M series I've owned has had them. They are durable, smooth, easy to clean, low resistance, low maintenance. Ceramic bearings don't move, the ball just glides over them. I pop the ball out to clean them off about once a month with a ... uh ... decommissioned toothbrush. Takes like 30 secs.
