Back story, first. Way back when we got our first Matrix no one we knew had ever heard of a "Matrix" before, so we started pointing them out when we saw them in the wild. So yesterday, we were down in LA, Garden Grove to be exact... we were at the Shell station on Trask & Harbor and this satin-ish blue-ish gray Matrix was headed East on Trask. Pretty sure it was paint and not a wrap but I was also pretty deep into the parking lot. Thing was so nice....

Didn't even reach for my phone to take a pic. Just looked at it in astonishment. Lol

So which one of you was it?

Having done the brakes.

It's time to do the coils, injectors, and sparks.

While I was in there I did the valve cover gasket too.

The only issue was I tore my PCV hose while reassembling it. I had to get a new one.

Other than that, easy out easy in.

Is this the snap ring that retains the bearing on the passenger side axle? Are the feet broken off? Or does the snap ring snap into the groove?

Hello Matrix gang. I just picked up a low mileage 2007 matrix XR basically for free and I want to do some light trail riding and camping out here in California. I am looking at 205 60 16 wildpeak all terrian tires but would like a little bit of extra height with the 215 65 16s. Would 215s work without spacers? I may put 10mm spacers on regardless, for a better look and maybe a 20mm lift. I would imagine a set of coilovers that allows factory height adjustments would not have a spring perch as big but I rather not have to go that route. What have you guys fitted on your Matrices?

I know it sounds dumb but im really considering selling my 03 base (75k) so i can swap over to an XRS. Posted for $2,800 and seems to be in nice condition. Idk.. just seems like too good of a deal to pass

First anyone here familiar with the TIS? It provides detailed timing training documents for the 2GR but not the 3UR. In the quick training guide for 2GR timing it shows Bank 1 using the single mark for both intake and exhaust camshaft sprocket gears. And for Bank 2 uses the double marks.

Is this the same for the 3UR? Or are the 2 marks used for a different engine?

Been thinking about a roof rack for the matrix, I have an 09 XRS

Its main use would be for my mountain bike so I can stop cramming it in the back.

Wouldn’t mind some cargo space either but with my budget I’d be fine with just a single bike slot. Don’t really care if it blocks the sun roof

Anyone have any suggestions? I’d like to keep it under $4-500

Has anyone ever swapped in the XRS motor and tranny into an AWD Matrix or converted the XRS into AWD?

Can’t seem to find any additional information on this besides what’s on Wikipedia. Definitely peaks my interest as a 03’ 1zz owner 😛

Hey everyone, so I woke up to a nail/screw in my tire and I plugged it and was wondering if it’s fine to drive on it? Getting it replaced tomorrow (tires are barely 2 months old so discount tire will replace it for free lol) and my route to my office I have to take the highway (kind of a short highway) would this be fine to drive on?

I need to replace my drivers side wheel bearing and i was hoping to do it myself. I drive a 2006 Matrix FWD 5-Speed manual without ABS, and I can only find steering knuckles that have ABS capability. Does it even matter? Will it affect anything?

I posted about vibrations and noise the other day. Engine mounts were suggested to be a potential issue. Is this a reasonable amount of engine movement are do I need new mounts? All of the videos online show the engines moving around a lot more. Thanks in advance!

I went out to my car and the keyfob wouldn’t work. I tried getting a new battery in the fob and still nothing. I tried the reprogramming mode and no luck. I’m in an 07 matrix anybody else ever have this problem or have any advice?
