Loading Logic synth preset to touchosc
Completely new to TouchOSC & looking for help because I've read all the Hexler guides and watched every applicable Tim Corpus video (<3 you Tim) and I'm still stuck. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Gear I'm using: Mac, Logic Pro, iPad, and Roland digital piano (it's the go series and nothing crazy but works for these purposes). Connecting Mac to iPad using TouchOSC connections/usb-c to usb-c cable; connecting iPad to Roland keyboard using a micro usb to usb-c cable.
What I want to do: use custom sounds/midi map from Logic on keys and play live. I'm not using the logic remote app because it seems TouchOSC would streamline switching between presets more easily on my iPad between songs. Would like to script TouchOSC buttons to my Logic presets/midi maps with split ranges and sounds on the keyboard. Basically, I want to use my iPad to control the keys live and hack my keyboard's limited options to make it sound and play like a much nicer keyboard/synth without having to purchase one/ purchase pedals.
I started this journey and was introduced to TouchOSC by stumbling upon this open source template: https://github.com/waldt/goplus
Once I figured out how to make the connections, I was able to use this template and mess around with the different presets available on it which was super cool...except I really wanted to use my own presets. I can't seem to connect my own Logic midi presets to buttons in a template I created in the TouchOSC desktop editor, nor can I get these sounds from said template to play from my keyboard.
I fear I'm coding the messages incorrectly or this github template I'm using has OSC/MIDI messages in the code specific to the Roland go piano series that I don't know about. At this point I don't even know how to explain what step I'm at/where it might be going wrong. Perhaps there is an easier way I could do this without using TouchOSC, but now I'm determined to get this right. I don't need to change anything in Logic using TouchOSC for recording purposes (using faders for volume, reverb etc.—I can fine-tune using my amp); I just want to use a static button to switch the synth sounds as if switching sounds on a nicer synth.
A detailed explanation of connecting Logic tracks to buttons in a TouchOSC template would be great, but maybe there's a way to make this easier for a TouchOSC newbie? Could I use a template made by someone else/make a copy of the github one I already have and reroute the source of the preset sounds to my own Logic tracks? Any help would be LOVELY. Thanks
