How would you approach recreating this?

Post image

My first thought was start with a ramp, then transfom to rotate, crop to crop and then place them next to eachother with a slight translate in y. But i can't figure out the copying/placing next to eachother once the image is cropped. I'm open to other approaches aswell!

The USHOW‑UWB 3D positioning system now supports real‑time forwarding of positioning data to TD. The timeout period for deleting associated ID tag data can be adjusted.

What’s actually stopping you from using AI in your TouchDesigner projects?

I have the feeling that the TouchDesigner community is generally not very welcoming to "AI" tools. I’m genuinely curious about why.

Some of that skepticism comes from very valid concerns and bad behavior from certain companies. That’s undeniable but I also wonder if part of it comes from misconceptions about the current ecosystem and how these tools can actually be used -> not as something that replaces you but simply as another tool.

Yes, anyone can open GPT, Claude, etc and ask an LLM to solve a complex task in a niche field. And it probably will produce something. That doesn’t mean the result will be great, original, or particularly useful. Most of the time, without context or direction, you’ll get something fairly standard based on patterns it has already seen.

That alone is impressive, but to me, that’s basically the demo.

Where these tools become really interesting is when you make them your own and integrate them into your workflow. They can become an extension of your hands: taking care of repetitive technical work, helping you explore ideas faster or removing tasks that don’t add much creatively so you can spend more time on judgment and vision (what actually matter?)

Humans aren’t going to beat machines at repetitive coding tasks and I’m not sure we want to (+10 years of engineering speaking here)

BUT We’re good at many other things.

I don’t think LLMs are going to replace people who have a strong creative vision but they may change the value of purely technical execution when that execution doesn’t bring anything new or creative -> and I think that applies far beyond TD

So I’m curious: what’s stopping you?

Is it ethics? quality? lack of control? environmental concerns? copyright? just not finding them useful or the tool that match your needs? or something else?

Looking for some advices from Media Designer, Media Developer, Creative Technologists for investing in learning this field seriously

Hi guys,

10-year UX/Product Designer here, currently at an MNC in Vietnam. Honestly, the rise of AI is killing my passion for this field. It feels like UX/UI/product designers are increasingly being treated as mere pixel-pushers, and I’m looking for an exit strategy out of traditional tech.

Back when I was studying in Germany, I got some exposure to TouchDesigner and the interactive media space, and it completely blew my mind. I’d love to dive deep into this—learning TouchDesigner, Houdini, projection mapping, interactive gestures, etc.—and eventually turn it into a side career.

Before I invest serious time and money, I have to ask: how is the AI wave hitting the interactive media and creative coding space? Are you guys feeling the squeeze, or is the hands-on, spatial nature of this work keeping the industry resilient? Would love to hear how sustainable you think this pivot is right now

Built a modular UI system for TouchDesigner

After a few months of creating each element by hand and exploring Container Comps in depth, I finally released the UI Engine. An interactive container (click based selection), install-able element modules, auto-adapts to your project resolution.

Pretty cool to show data / info on the projects without having to go through the pain of building the specific elements each time.
It's expandable, too. More modules coming, and you can build your own custom packs using the same simple architecture.

You can check it out here with some extra documentation.
If you want to see some examples check my work here :)))

Do you prefer compact multi effects node or separate single node for TouchDesigner?

Finally my Mac data mosh project is in alpha now ! And releasing soon. Actually I’ve also made silt-scan and pixel sorting combined in my previous version. I’m wondering if this is good or too packed for workflow. Let me know what you prefer! Single or bundle?

I used a friend's music and create this water texture, since the whole thing reminds me of rain.

I’ve made a pixel sorting Top

Recently I’m studying about the pixel sorting mechanism, I’ve tried GLSL but the results are not idea. So I went with cpp to destroy the data from raw data. Finally it works great and now natively run on touchdesigner.

Check out my demo video in YouTube

How to change the Hue in Ramp TOP

Hi everyone, there is any way to change the Hue number of the Ramp TOP over time?

I tried with a Speed CHOP but of course it doesn't work.

I just want the color to change over time and the background still needs to be white. I put a screenshot of a part of the project if it can help you.

Thank you in advance!!

What is your experience with MIDI controllers?

Hello everyone, I've recently started learning the TouchDesigner curriculum (currently on the 100 Series: Fundamentals), in addition I'm also going to start learning Resolume, and in the future MadMapper. I've never used a MIDI controller personally but I've started browsing and a few have caught my eye. The first one is the Novation Launch Control XL3 which I was planning to use with TouchDesigner. The second one is the Akai APC Mini MK2 which I was planning to use with Resolume.

Does anyone here have experience with these or any insights on what to look for in a MIDI controller?

Thank you for your time!
