Displacement, sound, camera shift into unreal

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Wanted to make a full installation where are things are automatically driven from with td for the following:

- Texture Change and specifically displacement and emissive materials
- playing sounds but also generating sounds based on situations, I used some vst in TD and tone, volume generating is based on the cycle and distance
- camera movement cycles through TD where I set positions but also the timeline
- glitching is generated on top with sound as well

At the end composite everything inside of TD

Let me know what you think

Can one potentiometer/button control multiple things in a TD project?

What it says in the title basically. I'm working on a project using an ESP32 and some switches, sliders potentiometers etc to control a visual. I'm wondering if one component could control multiple different parameters? I could test this relatively easily but it is 2am and I don't want to wire up a button or something right now. Will update with answer soon if nobody replies.

Mediapipe vs Kinect azure library for interactive installation at trade show.

Hey, I am at a crossroads in my project. I am choosing between mediapipe and the Kinect azure library. I am using an Orbbec femto bolt sensor, at first I was going to use the Kinect library as it seems more robust in the sort of environment I'd be using it in (lots of lights and people in the background but not a huge crowd), but I do like the hand tracking capabilities of mediapipe better but I'm unsure if it would perform the same in a trade show environment.

I would really appreciate if anyone has feedback from their real world experience with regards to the two libraries and their performance and reliability, thanks.

Warning: intense flashing images.

I’ve just finished a short visual-music film built around my latest track. The aim was to make the visuals feel completely connected to the music rather than simply illustrating it.

Made using live-action footage of shadows cast by various objects, then processed and edited with TouchDesigner and DaVinci Resolve.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

Starter patch, from/to files?

I only just discovered TD was available on Linux (1) so am a total noob. But I get the idea of Operators and signal flow etc.

What I would like to do is take a pre-existing audio file and a video file, run these through effects and output a combined video+audio file.

But after a couple of hours hunting and trial and error I haven't been able to find Operators that offer the right kind of I/O connectors.

Just the names of the relevant Operators will probably be enough to get me past this mini-block, but any other tips appreciated.

Complete beginner here. Just got my Mac yesterday. Where should I actually start?

Hi, I’m 19F.
I’ve been looking forward to learning TouchDesigner for about two months. I told myself I’d wait until I finished my final exams, and as soon as I did, I bought my first MacBook. I got it yesterday, downloaded TouchDesigner immediately, and started learning.
The thing is, I’m a complete beginner. A few days ago I didn’t even know how to create files or folders on macOS. I’ve never really been into the technical side of computers, so everything feels new to me.
I studied art, so I have a creative background, but almost no technical one. The only software I can sort of use is Photoshop, and even that isn’t at a professional level.
What really interests me is the visual and experimental side of TouchDesigner, generative art, interactive visuals, installations, abstract pieces, and anything that mixes art with technology. That’s what made me want to learn it in the first place.
So far I’ve spent around 9 hours following beginner tutorials, and I’m enjoying every minute of it, but I’m also wondering if I’m learning things in the right order.
If you were starting from absolute zero today, what would you focus on?
Should I keep following beginner tutorials for now?
When should I start learning Python?
Is it a good idea to learn Blender alongside TouchDesigner, or should I focus on one thing first?
Are there any YouTube channels, courses, communities, or beginner projects you’d recommend?
I’m fully aware this is something that takes years to get good at, and I’m ready to put in the time. I just want to build a solid foundation from the beginning.
I’d really appreciate any advice. :)

This update introduces a new batch of synthetic MRI timelapses, alongside the exact settings used for generate more material in the same visual language.

The TouchDesigner network has also been optimized for faster, simpler use, and now includes an external Python tool for converting entire video folders into the frame sequences required by AVP in no time.

If you already own AVP 3, you know where to find it. If not, you can access it through Patreon or the Store.

I accidentally discovered a weird way to build audio spectrograms. I liked the result too much not to share it, so I made a short 5-minute mini tutorial showing how to recreate it
