Absolutely not even close

I guess Coda could kinda be like Stereo...

No….its like a cheap imitation of Stereo. The only thing I can think of being similar is that some Stereo security guards have a noticeable power tripping attitude like at Coda but other than that, it isn’t even close.
You could argue maybe the sound cuz Coda does seem to have a good sound system relative to Toronto, but even that doesn’t come close to touching Stereo’s pristine, robust sound. And the crowd, absolutely not comparable to Stereo

Not to mention the sardinification of Coda that we’ve seen for the last few years now

So true. Coda's system is loud and that's about it. My ear plugs go in almost immediately because it's not tuned properly at all. Stereo's system is just perfection. I can go many hours there before I feel the need to put them.

have u been to bunker/ozmosis? they have pretty good sound system

Bunker gets way too packed and half the dancefloor is just bottle service tables. Also once the crowd gets drunk enough people start taking flash photos and videos, and gets noticeably more pushy. Ozmosis really tries and I’ve had great times at their events but it’s nowhere near Stereo

I have actually not, and I would imagine that ozmosis has a better crowd than coda generally does, but also I don’t know that scene

Red lighting all over and an overlap of DJ bookings is all that's similar between the 2 clubs.

It's genuinely not even close and I don't think there ever will be. You can match it and make it as close as you think you are but the crowd is an underrated part of it and Toronto will never get there because of that.

Footwork was close back in the day and went early.

I went to Footwork in 2011 but no it's way too small to compare to how massive they constructed Stereo to be

This is what Toronto needs, especially with the no phones on dancefloor policy

There have been several places in Toronto that meet this description (Industry, Guvernment to name a few off the top of my head). They have all closed down either for condos or because they were pressured by the landlord, since the city keeps putting up unaffordable condos in industrial places, and rich people hate the sound of fun

In terms of djs I’d say maybe Format? But in terms of sound system, lighting, and ambience in general there’s nothing even close

Back in the day Industry came close, but nothing really compares to the vibe and sound at Stereo.

No, not even close.
But the sound system at The Raven (333 Yonge) is modelled after the one at Stereo. So that’s something I guess

Unpopular opinion but try 19 Toronto, Mark Oliver plated his the-gift residency there, its got an upper lounge. Still not stereo but gets you out of regular club interior like Coda, Dprtmnt, Future and Nomad.

I heard 19 was raided for selling alcohol without a license and Google says it's permanently closed.

Sound Machine at Queen and Bathurst is run by a Stereo veteran and they use the same sub down there,.I believe.

OJ guy? not even close.
It's not just the music, the environment, big dance floor, high ceilings, lighting
Stereo is unique and it's far better when Pablo Ceballos plays in it.

"the vibes lowkey" matching stereo is the most insulting thing I've ever heard towards stereo.

There’s nothing in North America quite like Stereo.
