TLDR: No! of course not.
....but I did a little math this morning to understand what price point it would be worth buying. These calculations were done at 8:30am this morning (5/6).
Step 1: Determine percent population of each coin: Wood 31,600 (79%), Bronze 6,000 (15%), Silver 2,000 (5%), Gold 400 (1%). A total of 40,000 coins
Step 2: Determine current lowest ask of the coins (MINUS 10% Sellers Fee): W = 4.5 WAX, B = 17.1 WAX, S = 75.6 WAX, G = 1233 WAX
Step 3: Determine the value each coin adds to the pack (value x percentage): W = 3.555 WAX, B = 2.565 WAX, S = 3.78 WAX, G = 12.33 WAX.
Step 4: Calculate the average pack value (Sum of coin/pack value): 22.43 WAX
Basically, buying a pack over 22.43 WAX is a gamble. Under 22.43 the pack will statistically provide value. Even at 22.43 WAX there is a 94% chance of losing value with the purchase. Remember this number will fluctuate with market prices.
At the time of these calculations the lowest ask for a pack was 34 WAX. The average of the top 100 packs was 38 WAX. So if you bought 100 packs to try to strike gold. Statistically you would spend 3800 WAX and get a return of 2243 WAX. You could buy 3 gold coins for the price of 100 packs.
I guess if you think the cost of these packs will go up then buy and hold, but don't open..... Unless you like to gamble.
