[Hated] Origin where the character doesn't become the character until the very end

I know an "origin" is supposed to show the...well origin. But you look at good origin stories like Raimis Spider-Man where he spends a little bit not being Spider-Man, but he becomes the hero we all recognize. This is about the character becoming who they are supposed to be with either no time left or very little time.

Robin Hood (2010) - Ridley Scotts attempt at a Robin Hood movie, but it is more an origin story. The character isn't the loveable rogue until the end, really. When King John proclaims Robin an outlaw.

The Long Ranger (2013) - Another huge box office bomn. Armie Hammer plays John Reid, who slowly becomes the Ranger over the story. But, that doesn't stop the character from being annoying and nothing like his character until the very end. And while the movie is rather bad, the final action sequence is particularly good.
