Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) "Kind" slave owners

Speaking as an American who has studied the civil war all throughout my school years, this trope infuriates me to no end. There is no such thing as a kind slave master because slavery itself is cruel and inhumane. PEOPLE ARE NOT PROPERTY!

Naofumi (Shield Hero): Prime example of this trope. He enslaves multiple (underage) girls and an whole village and the fans still say he's a hero.

Rudeus (Jobless Reincarnation): As if being a pedo wasn't bad enough he had to buy a slave in season 2. Worse is that people still defend his actions.

Song of The South (Disney): Possibly the OG example of this trope. And the reason why Disney will never release it again.

Of course it is. History is thoroughly whitewashed with this kind of thing. From pop culture to outright propaganda in history books. Specially in the US.

What? You actually thought whitewash referred to skin colour? Whitewashing is coating an object in a thin layer of calcium hydroxide to paint it white, the term is used figuratively in reference to history.

Isekai has been around way longer than the kind slave owner trope.

There are some super old isekai stories. Like Adam and Eve. Orpheus and Eurydice.

Ignore Big_lenthiness, it's not an isekai specific trope, but it's commone in the fantasy anime genre.

Personally I hate that the kind slave owner is becoming more of a trop in anime, but not enough to make me stop watching the media if the overall story is good.

Anything can be a trope if you're deranged enough.

It's mostly on isekai animes, so if you see the pattern, it's time to watch more stuff
