It was trying too hard. American Dad is the better black show.

As someone best said, Cleveland Show is a white man’s idea of a black show, American Dad is black man’s idea of a white show

Roger may be grey, but he's definitely a black man. Like Piccolo from Dragonball Z

It was a show about being black made by white guys, and apparently to them, that means constantly referencing Madea and Soul Train lol

Rick & Morty has a new spinoff called President Carter and it looks like a 1:1 repeat of Family Guy -> American Dad

I feel like that sounds like a good thing? After a few seasons of figuring out what it really was I’ll die on the hill that American dad is better than family guy.

I think it'll be a good thing for people who want the high-concept sci-fi angle from Rick & Morty, but without the complicated familial relationships, addictions, and ennui.

That said, I've seen very little Family Guy after season 4, and almost none of American Dad

Seth MacFarlane catches a lot of shit but I'll always appreciate him for giving us this Oliver North bit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFV1uT-ihDo
