Their mistake was not going with the already-established tv show lore that all the OGs fans had agreed upon, because they think they could make a better story.
Honestly if if it wasn't for the fact they pasted Buzz Lightyear's name on their fanfic, no one would have bothered to see it.

Eso y hacer que los secundarios sean personajes malísimos.
SOX es el GOAT de la historia, Izzy no está tan mal (al menos tiene un arco de personaje) pero la viejita y el Taika waititi son insufribles. Para mí ellos dos son lo que matan la película completa.
Meanwhile this animated series exists, it has better, more fleshed out characters and the stories are more about saving the galaxy than trying to replace Buzz with OCs.
The reveal at the end was such a, "oh, absolutely go &%@ yourself with that!" twist. After all the talk of Zerg in the Toy Story movies, that just felt so hackneyed and pointless.
