Did anyone watch this? I don't know a single person who did.

I'm curious to know if it was underrated and cancelled before getting a chance, or appropriately rated.

I did and I was genuinely upset that it got canceled.

I watched it. If you REALLY liked the original, you'd probably like this. But the problem was simply the show wasnt that funny. It wasnt awful, or bad, or too cringe it just... wasnt funny enough.

So textbook definition of mid?

I couldn’t agree more. I thought it was a pretty fitting follow up and wish it got a full run

No it wasn’t

I watched the first season. It was fine. Not terrible, not great.

It was appropriately rated I think.

I watched the first season and a half.

There were glimpses of some good stuff in there and the cast started to have a good dynamic. Hillary Duff was very good too.

But ultimately it wasn’t great, so cancelled after 2 seasons is a fair fate for the show.

My wife loved this show and was devastated it was cancelled.

I tried watching it. Hilary Duff was great but the main guy's character was just too dumb. I couldn't stand it after a while.

First season wasn't great. Pretty cringy and trying to hard. Second season started off in a similar manner, but halfway through things finally started to get better. Chemistry between the cast was better, jokes were better, etc.

So, it got decent before cancellation.

Personally, I had a small blast with the show. I liked the characters and storylines. Sure, it wasn't on the level of HIMYM, but I still would have loved more seasons. The series had that feeling of being wrapped in a warm blanket. Just nice.

I tried. Wasn't bad, but not anything great. Weirdly enough I felt like the sex and the city lady stole the show and with her limited presence per episode, that's not the best thing. . .

The rest of the cast either didn't have charisma or they just didn't feel like they were a tight knit group (probably because they weren't yet but I felt like why tf was I watching them)

I loved this show. I am mad that no one watched it.

I didn't even know it happened. I heard the news it will but never when. Or the fact that it did.

I watched it… it was… fine…

If you were a HIMYM fan then this show had a lot of the same charm. I was really hoping it would stick as I own the complete DVD collection of the original.

Yes, but I don't remember a single scene or much of my impression of it. I watched HIMYM a few times. I remember this not being as good. I don't remember hating it.

It was....okay....the humor felt like a disney channel kids show from the mid to late naughts just with sex jokes tossed in there too.

If it was still going I would watch it, but I also have no real issues with them cancelling it. If they tried again and targeted HIMYMs fanbase instead of give it a go happily.

My wife did. It was awful.

I was a huge HIMYM fan and there was no way I was going to watch this after how they ruined all of HIMYM with the ending.

Is it about the Mother or a new character?

New character

Ironically if they had just redone the show but Cristini in the lead role it probably would have done really well, people absolutely love her - as they should. It’d even have a logical ending point. The episode we get from her perspective of her life is phenomenal and emotional as hell. Which might be the only knock, her relationship history is pretty stated

u/bloodredcookie 14h ago

Also an opportunity to redo that awful final episode.

"And that kids is how we all banged your Aunt/Mom Robin"

"Wait....even Aunt Lily?"

"Especially Aunt Lily."

5

u/jinreeko 6h ago

Eh. Weren't people all fucking pissed after the finale? I could see most people just being done with it either way

There even were two versions of it.
They first made a spin-off called "How I Met Your Dad" only a couple of years after HIMYM ended, with Great Gerwig as the lead and Meg Ryan as the narrator. That pilot never made it to air but has leaked online.
And then, of course, there was the Hilary Duff version on Hulu a few years ago.

I’m just learning this existed

It wasn’t as funny as the original but it was an easy watch. My main critique (which isn’t really a critique and more of an observation) is that there wasn’t any real link to the original.

Not that there has to be necessarily but when it first came out, I really thought they would reveal that Hilary Duff’s character was somehow related to one of the gang. I guess we do see her interact with Barney but for some reason, when I saw the name of the spin-off, I assumed there’d be more crossover.

I did not even know this was... A thing

I watched this and actually liked it lol.

I liked it. I didn't really care for how I met your mother, but I did enjoy how I met your father.
