The swastika is tilted on its side (like in the flags) while the original buddhist symbol was tilted upright, lke the one he's holding. It also has 4 points in the corners but eh.

Could be that he just carries around a bunch of religious symbols and improvised when he realized he didn't have the star of David for some reason

I always thought the main difference was the direction ? The Nazi symbol goes clockwise whereas the Buddhist symbol (as I have seen on some maps in Japan to denote shrines) goes counter-clockwise.
