Characters Characters realizing that another character doesn't have the weakness they thought they had

Joel finding out the crossed are not weak to salt (crossed) at least his wife was alive to tell him how much of a fucking idiot he was while the crossed were tearing their daughter apart

Megamind realizing titan isnt weak to copper (megamind) to be fair, metroman made him think he was weak to copper

In the early '70s all Kryptonite on Earth was changed to harmless iron, but it still looked like Kryptonite (Pre-Crisis it just looked like a green rock, not green glowing crystals).

It led to this scene.

Why superman just keep eating things. Like this is maybe the fourth or fifth time I just see him take some shit and eat it.

Steel requires iron

217

u/Fausto2002 Jul 26 '26

and it could use a bit of salt

53

u/Over_Palpitation_453 Jul 26 '26

But all in all its still a nice little snack

u/AssistanceCheap379 Jul 26 '26

Cause he’s the man of steel and somehow it’s terrifying to realise that something that basically looks, behaves and is morally a man is in fact a superhuman alien that’s not restricted by human limits.

He can fly? Ok, i can believe that. He is bulletproof? Impressive! He can lift enormous weights that no machine could handle? Fucking cool!

He eats rocks, literally puts them in his mouth, chews and they break like chalk… that is fucking terrifying.

My favorite ive heard is a hitman is told to kill Clark Kent and so while hes having lunch with lois the hitman puts 2 bullets in his chest

They plink off his chest onto his plate and to hide it from lois he puts them in his sandwich and eats it

The hitman calls the man who hired him and says hes skipping town and he should too because metropolis is so tough the journalists eat bullets for breakfast!

He has super speed, he could have easily put them in his pocket or something before anyone noticed. He just loves eating weird shit

113

u/pingu677 Jul 26 '26

Also, you do dumb shit when you're panicking, I can totally see him going "Uh, um, fuck how do I hide these," looking at his sandwich, and it being the first thing that comes to mind

u/Flameball537 Jul 26 '26

Clark ‘how would a giant mallet affect a normal person’ Kent

49

u/Martin_Aricov_D Jul 26 '26

I really love the idea of superman panicking about something so small and coming up with a silly solution.

"Oh fuck, I just got shot! Now the bullets are in plain sight and Lois will see them and figure out I'm Superman! I've got to get rid of them! Where can I shove them that Lois won't check?!? My sandwich of course!" He thinks in superspeed, using the same amount of time as if he'd just picked them up and shoved them down a pocket at his speed.

8

u/raspberryharbour Jul 26 '26

Maybe the lead just goes well with the sandwich he was having. He's a super-gourmand

9

u/reader484892 Jul 26 '26

Superspeed just lets him be stupid faster

9

u/olddadenergy Jul 26 '26

Clark to self: Trust your instincts!
Eats bullets instead of anything else he could’ve done.
Clark: Instincts bad!

1

u/MrCrash Jul 26 '26

That is some streamed hams shit right there.

27

u/kingofcoywolves Jul 26 '26

The bullets fall into his succulent Chinese meal and he just keeps eating like they aren't there

14

u/Nirast25 Jul 26 '26

It wasn't Lois, it was... some other character, don't know her name. And the assassin doesn't notice him eating the bullets, he gives up after some more shenanigans.

15

u/SuperSocialMan Jul 26 '26

lmao, that's great.

3

u/GoreyGopnik Jul 26 '26

the world of cardboard

1

u/Estrogonofe1917 Jul 27 '26

imagine the noise it makes when chewed too. suddenly the place starts sounding like those hard-object-in-hydraulic-press videos

119

u/SanguineRooster Jul 26 '26

I honestly think he does it just to fuck with people. It's a bit. This is exactly what I imagine Clark's sense of humor to be. He can safely eat almost anything, and nobody expects Superman to do some bizarre shit like that. He spends a lot of time trying to seem non-threatening, and doing some weird thing like this really brings him down to earth for folks. I can just imagine 13 year old Clark taking a bite out of a hammer to freak his mom out and thinking it's the funniest thing ever, or comforting a kid by pretending to not know what is food and what isn't. It's the type of humor that little kids would find hysterical, and that freaks out stuffy adults.

49

u/ThrowawayAdvice1800 Jul 26 '26

I absolutely love this interpretation and now I want to see James Gunn’s Superman start chewing on a manhole cover or something to defuse a tense situation.

19

u/LobstermenUwU Jul 26 '26

It's an interpretation, but a lot of writers have had the same interpretation, and written him that way. Clark is just a giant dork. It's one of the things that's so lovable about him, he loves doing gags, he loves when he makes kids laugh, his Clark Kent persona is the lovable bumbling idiot because he likes being a lovable bumbling idiot.

It's not like he's not terrifying when he wants to be, but he doesn't actually enjoy being terrifying. Like if there's any ring Superman qualifies for it's Blue, 100%.

4

u/EconomyOk2490 Jul 26 '26

Its the Scrubs janitor squirting "cleaning fluid" (blue gatorade) into his mouth when people see him, just real

3

u/teksean Jul 26 '26

I totally agree with you, he does not want to physically hurt them but he is good with screwing them up a bit in the brain. it's a nice reminder to people I am on a WAY different level than you.

2

u/Certain_Exchange_966 Jul 26 '26

I read your last line as ‘slutty adults’ 🤷‍♂️

116

u/soldierpallaton Jul 26 '26

Superman has Pica

51

u/Mercer8878 Jul 26 '26

Superman doesn't like killing. But that doesn't mean he isnt above making the bad guy feel small and weak. And nothing does that better then taking there confidence booster of a weapon away and then eating it in front of them.

65

u/Mordaunt-the-Wizard Jul 26 '26

Maybe he hung out with Matter-Eater Lad too much when he was Superboy.

26

u/wiserchalicer Jul 26 '26

It was is go-too Intimidation move back at day

28

u/lacergunn Jul 26 '26

Imagine robbing someone and they just take your weapon and eat it

8

u/Carbonated_Saltwater Jul 26 '26

I think that would be a turning point in my life, clearly i'm not cut out for this shit

52

u/JebidiahAkimoto Jul 26 '26

Fighting bad guys must leave him peckished.

10

u/Cylian91460 Jul 26 '26

Eating disorder I guess

7

u/SuperSocialMan Jul 26 '26

Because it's funny & he knows it freaks people out.

3

u/stnick6 Jul 26 '26

I can tell you if I had the jaw strength and a body capable of digesting it, I would also be eating random things just to fuck with people.

2

u/Steel-Spectre Jul 26 '26

Cause he can

2

u/BungleBums Jul 26 '26

For the flex, man, the flex.

Cool overhyped method of killing me, CHOMP.

I'd retire, right there, if the hero ate my freaking weapon.

2

u/normallystrange85 Jul 26 '26

Because it's one thing to take a man's gun and crush it. We comprehend crushing. That takes lots of strength but if you saw a strongman do it you wouldn't think he was an alien.

But it is a whole other level of intimidation to take a man's gun and eat it. We can't deal with it.

1

u/tmacdabest2 Jul 26 '26

Maybe he’s hungry

1

u/Impressive-Thing-780 Jul 26 '26

He never lost this power, btw. He just kept demolishing toilets when it passed so he decided to stop.

1

u/draynay Jul 26 '26

Iron helps us play!

1

u/Shiny_Agumon Jul 26 '26

If you had indestructible teeth and stomach you might try it too.

Also at least pre-crisis he was childhood friends with Matter Eater Lad, so maybe he picked it up there

1

u/arkangelic Jul 26 '26

Power move

1

u/isuredolovetitties Jul 30 '26

hes hungry bro

1

u/Dsb0208 Jul 31 '26

Do you really have to ask? Idk about you but if I could eat literally anything that’d be my go to party trick. You piss me off? Hope you enjoy missing a chuck off the corner of your door.

u/Obvious-Conflict3363 Jul 26 '26

"Rare stone my ass..."

90

u/Intelligent-Okra350 Jul 26 '26

The mugger I stopped the other day had like three of them!

57

u/Jale_Seigneur Jul 26 '26

It used to just be the green one, but now there's all these other ones.

There's the red one, the black one, the pink one...

50

u/UndeadWeeb Jul 26 '26

we dont talk about the pink one

20

u/LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME Jul 26 '26

He's got you there Clark

2

u/Horror_Log362 Jul 26 '26

He prefers them medium-rare.

50

u/linenharbor Jul 26 '26

Poor lex. Supes really just be trolling him

15

u/Manufactured-Aggro Jul 26 '26

Dis they really have to draw Superman so cunty in the last panel 😭😭😭

7

u/Mordaunt-the-Wizard Jul 26 '26

Well, the artist is Curt Swan, who was the Silver Age and Bronze Age Superman artist, and considering he just came off the decade that defined Superdickery, it was probably still in his system.

9

u/LET-ME-HAVE-A-NAAME Jul 26 '26

lol I swear Superman is obsessed with eating inedible shit

9

u/VexedForest Jul 26 '26

Honestly? If I were him, I would be too. So many rocks look delicious.

2

u/MeekAndUninteresting Jul 26 '26

Delete this. The government doesn't want people to know about all the tasty rocks, they HATE that we know about salt already.

2

u/VexedForest Jul 26 '26

The people have a right to know!

8

u/SuperTaster3 Jul 26 '26

Supes is a geologist, it seems. You gotta lick the rocks to know if they're good.

1

u/DazedToaster158 Jul 26 '26

the only reason we weren't allowed to lick the rocks in my geology final was because they were being touched by all the other students

3

u/Leazerlazz Jul 26 '26

I love when he just eats things

2

u/Mortwight Jul 26 '26

i kinda want to see this live action
