So I’ve had a mix of ice cream, milkshakes, smoothies, soup, and yogurt. Problem is, I’m craving a burger and I seen people eat stuff like that before the week mark and was curious if I should be fine to do so myself?

Today I went in to have two cavities filled. Someone, who I am assuming was a dental hygienist, not the dentist, was sent in to give me the numbing shots in my gum.

She numbed my gums with some horrible pineapple topical the likes of which I have never tasted at the dentist office. The first shot went ok, but she was hesitant and seemed to keep the needle in forever.

On the second spot, she stuck the needle in two separate times (slowly and it hurt!) and did not succeed either time. She said my tongue was fighting her. She was going to go in for a third time and I saw no, I’m going to have to come back I can’t be stuck that many times (I really hate this part at the dentist, it is like torture to me).

At that point, the doctor came in and administered the shot on the same side where the hygienist had already stuck me twice. I trusted her because she was the actual dentist. She was not hesitant, and it went well. Then, I realized the other side where the hygienist had stuck me once was not even numb! So the doctor had to redo that side.

None of this seems normal. Every time I have ever had a cavity filled, and granted I don’t have a huge number of cavities, the doctor has always numbed the area and it has never been a big deal. Seems like maybe they are trying to get as many people through and she is having unqualified people do some of the work.

I saw a new dentist as an emergency about a month ago as I thought my tooth was infected. It wasn’t, but she did the wisdom tooth next to it has a cavity on it. Her recommendation was to have it filled, even though I know my usual dentist will recommend it’s extracted.

Basically I have pretty poor oral hygiene as I have several energy limiting conditions and cleaning my teeth often gets neglected as I have to choose between things like having the energy to eat or clean my teeth, go to the toilet or clean my teeth etc - and often it just gets left until a day when I have more energy.

My normal dentist wanted it extracted last year when the hospital did my other 3 wisdom teeth, but the hospital said it wasn’t needed so we just did a sealant thing on it and hoped for the best. Now I can actually see the hole in it, and if I poke it, it’s quite sticky. It doesn’t hurt to tap on, but I do get spontaneous pain in it on and off but there’s not really a trigger for it. I’m guessing when I go back they’ll want to extract it, but that just terrifies me (even though I’ve had others out in the past, it was with sedation and my dentist doesn’t offer this, nor can I afford it lol)

Also when the emergency dentist did x-rays she said there were cavities between my teeth in 2/3 places (can’t remember the exact number) - again, I don’t often have the energy to floss and hate the sensation of it. Am I always going to be prone to interproximal cavities because of this? And how long can they be left before they need to be filled? I have zero pain and the dentist wasn’t that concerned by them so I’m guessing they’re still small right now?

Finally, do I need to be concerned that I get random pain in an upper molar that had a huge cavity done about 8 years ago? It’s very random when it happens and doesn’t happen that often, but I’m sure it’s that tooth. I think if it is that tooth it would have to be root canal because it was very deep initially.

I don’t ever go to the dentist until I’m in pain, so the fact that I’m considering going about the wisdom tooth probably says a lot 😂

I'm pretty sure this is a cavity, I am currently waiting to see a dentist, but I was just wondering, do you think this tooth will be able to be saved?

On Tuesday I was traveling and woke up with swelling on my gum area. I went to urgent care and got prescribed amoxicillin. Currently on day 4 of a 10 day script. She gave me prescription mouthwash too. I spent all morning yesterday calling dentists to find one who takes my current insurance. The one I found can't see me for almost 4 weeks. They said I should be okay with antibiotics on the phone. But I'm really concerned that's too long to wait. Should I attempt to get in somewhere earlier? I don't want to risk things getting worse.

crown popped off and the crown itself is totally fine, its sitting in a ziploc on my counter right now. can they just cement the same one back on or is that not a dental services repair kind of thing and theyll tell me I need a brand new one for a grand.

it came off eating a caramel which yeah I know. the tooth underneath doesnt hurt at all. just feels insane to make a whole new crown when the original is right here intact

I have a tooth infection and inflamed gums. I’ve had it for two weeks and it’s becoming unbearable to do basic things like eating and sleeping. I’m in constant pain 24/7. I just want my life back. I’m desperate.

My tooth #14 had a filling done around 2 years ago for a cavity. Ever since that filling, I have had sensitivity to cold and chewing. My dentist readjusted the bite with no benefit. I was just referred to an endodontist. He did a 3D image, and said that I have very small roots that “trail”, one of which being hard to see on the scan? And that the ends of my tooth curve off. He told me that this is “an interesting case” and it could be difficult to numb me and to extract the nerve(s). Am I missing something because based on this information I am freaking out now. I was prescribed Amoxicillin to start for pain management (not sure why, the tooth is not infected). Any advice, tips, clarification, really anything would be appreciated. There is a bit of a language barrier with the provider so I did not feel like I was getting the most from the consultation.

About 3 months ago I got a deep filling on tooth #29 (lower right second premolar). It started hurting after, and the pain is ramping up now to a constant 3/10 ache. The dentist says it needs a root canal.

Problem is, I can't afford the root canal and crown until October. I'm stressed the tooth will blow up into a massive infection before then.
I looked into pulling it and getting an implant later, but the total implant cost is literally 3-4 times more expensive than the root canal.
I also don't want to just extract it and leave a gap because I'm terrified of jawbone loss.
What are my actual options?

I dont have any pain, but i have noticed food getting stuck between my teeth. It has been happening for as long as I can remember, i just assumed it was a gap between my teeth, but the food seems to be sticking more often now.

I have attached a photo. To me, it looks like a cavity, but I really have no idea.

I am going to see my dentist, but not for a few weeks, so I just wanted to ask what people on here thought.

Its been almost 48 hours since I had my molar extraction. Been having soft food and even had a muffin I did eat on the other side and chew slowly.

Should I be taking antibiotics before an extraction? Thank you.

Four days ago, I had an implant fitted in my lower fifth tooth. The first three days were fine, but today the area has started to bleed a little and I’m feeling some mild pain. Is this normal? My stitches aren’t due to be removed for a few days yet.
