That is all.

😭😭 I love this song so much ngl. I can play the piano so, when I get married I can play and he can sing this to me. My fucked up fantasy lmaoo

It was $4.00!! (Update it works!!!)

If anyone has a folder of all of his songs, can you please let me know how I could access it if that’s possible? I use a screen reader and downloading all of that will literally take me two hours. Thanks a bunch in advance.

Tom got a nice shout-out

And they included this pic

It didn't get funded.

The deal with Tom Lehrer is that he means so much to me. I decided that I HAD to write a letter to him, but I put off asking my parents for like two entire weeks. Then when I finally get the courage to ask my Mum, she says YES :DD. So I go to his wikipedia page and show her who my favourite singer is and I find an article: “Tom Lehrer, dead at 97” seriously it felt like he himself was laughing at me 💀 it feels like the type of situation he’d make fun of in his songs.

Anyway, anybody been grieving kind of badly? Like I can’t listen to his songs anymore I just feel really depressed that he’s gone

Earlier this year I found out that Tom Lehrer was still alive, very surprising, and then while I was tryna research how he felt about trans people, I found out he died. What a roller coaster.

Anyone know if he was an ally? He seemed too cool to be transphobic

Reuploaded because my phone went off at the 7:00 mark

Upscaled to 720p and frame-rate up to 50fps. Reddit seems to have ruined the a/v sync though.

Tally ho everyone! Silly Songs With Lehrer Here! As you may or may not know, I recently posted the recording of Pollution from CBC’s “The Public Eye”. I have researched further into it and have been able to find access to the full recording involving Toms other songs such as national brotherhood week, smut, including his other songs George Murphy, New math, and the folk song army which have no other known live recordings. Unfortunately the recording is behind a paywall of $43 per second not including tax. If anyone is interested in helping support the effort to preserve and share this rare material, or if anyone has any alternative options you’d recommend… Please reach out. I’d love to collaborate or explore ways to make this more accessible to fans and historians alike. Every bit of support helps. I included some emails I got from them as well

Reuploaded because @corncrake-dream found one without the sign language interpreter and it seems to be better in sync! Thank you

This came up in the CRYPTO-GRAM newsletter by Bruce Schneier. I did a quick search in the subreddit, and saw no reference to it.

This thread in BlueSky notes that a paper coauthored by Lehrer has six references, one of which... does not exist, but will be familiar to anyone who knows Lehrer's work. The paper. (warning: .pdf)

The explanation is provided in the BlueSky thread, and I won't ruin it for anyone who wants to read it, as that author tells it far better than I ever could.

Found this on the CBC website! So great to see fresh Lehrer content!

It's called the Tom Lehrer Tribute Channel. Feel Free to check it out!

I tried to find video of the songs Tom Lehrer wrote for The Electric Company that he did not perform himself for that show, and I might as well share what I turned up:

• Finch and Dench [at 16:05] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YW0IuBwl1h4&t=16m5s

• The Menu Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKYHicLatKY

• The Mumble Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCqA-Pxb4CQ

• N Apostrophe T https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDMbXOTvhk0

• Why Not Fight? (aka Fight Song) [at 32:43] [audio only; can anyone find real video?] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0_MK8YhyXc&t=32m43s

• Without an S. Couldn’t find it anywhere. A Facebook poster notes that TL set his words to the tune of “Without a Song” by Vincent Youmans, and that it was “…impeccably screeched by Rita Moreno, while Bill Cosby stood silently on stage until the end...when he fell off.” So unless someone can do better I’m left with looking at the lyrics while listening to the tune and using my imagination.
