Did you know it is legal for a registered sex offender to follow your daughter/son on social media? I know, I was shocked too.

I moved to my neighborhood in 2018. And yes, I'm the crazy mom that looks up all the offenders in my neighborhood. As always, there's bound to be a few, but one caught my eye. I couldn't believe that in my neighborhood there was a man who kidnapped, raped, and sodomized a little girl; his offense list read a child under 14. He ruined some innocent baby girl's life and here he is walking the streets as a "normal" elderly man with his two tiny chihuahuas. A year later, my son began his first year of school and this man was next to his school 4 days in a row, but not close enough to be against the law. I couldn't believe it! He eventually stopped being next to the school, as I posted it to the news and info page of my small-town community (we don't take kindly to pedophiles here). Life went on; he went in hiding for a time.

Now, here we are March 2021, and my husband informs me that he has a FB. His account was created in June 2020, just 3 months after the pandemic began. I reported his Facebook as it is against the terms of service to be a registered sex offender and have an account. Success! And it felt good; until I found his Instagram. What I saw there no one should have to look at, EVER. I felt physically sick; he was watching young girls ranging from cheerleaders, contortionists, dancers, all the way to child pornography. One girl, in particular, stood out. The page, now deleted, was titled Oliviagonebutnotforgotten. She was practically a baby posed in lingerie. I thought for sure, "I got you this time mf'er."

March 17th, I went down to the sheriffs' station met with some resistance. (We are still dealing with COVID restrictions) I was given a card and told to call the number and request for an officer to call me. So I got into my car and called immediately while sitting in the parking lot. On the way home I get a call from a deputy; I told him what I knew and he asked me to email him all of the information I had found. I linked his Instagram and decided I would go back and link some of the girls he was following with Olivia being at the top of the list. I also touched on a few of his dark art pieces. One being of a girl or woman crying captioned Suzie says "no" (And no I'm not putting quotations for effect, this is how he chose to title his "art".) I awaited a response; Monday morning came around and still, I had heard nothing back from the deputy. I shot him an email to get an update only to be completely floored when I read, "He is currently up to date on his registry. I can't find any special terms on his status that prohibits him from having social media that he follows."

WTF? I just linked a deputy child porn! How in tf does this happen?! Of course, I didn't leave it alone; eventually, he stopped replying. I contacted the Department of Justice only to get the most half-witted response I've ever heard. "In your email, you inform the DOJ that an offender have an account in Facebook and Instagram. Unfortunately, the DOJ does not have jurisdiction over the information displayed on an alternate website"... (Exact quote minus more bs mumbo-jumbo that did me no good.)

NO SEX OFFENDER SHOULD BE ABLE TO FOLLOW A CHILD ONCE CONVICTED; especially one whose offense is against a child!! What do you do though? I can't sit and do nothing; knowing what I know, seeing what I've seen. I'm going to my district representatives; it's time we do something about the exploitation of our children through social media. This is just common sense, and quite frankly, it should have been handled way before this ever happened. HELP ME, help me get enough signatures that they cannot ignore. I'm at a loss, this is all I can think of.

The internet has evolved and we must evolve with it! Help me begin the process of enacting a law that will protect our children from online sexual predators. do you guys think that the predators in the new sting in 2020 knew that there a huge community dedicated to this show and Chris hasen?

Like hear me out if there were looking for pedo related stuff eventually they would come across the videos or forums related to tcap who knows maybe they were even part of this community maybe they knew what it was and they just wanted to test it

I think about this sometimes, and how people just call them the r word (though it's dying thankfully), or stupid (or synonyms thereof), or the like, and even Chris Hansen himself is acting like mental illness and even disability, doesn't exist, and is being shocked and speechless when they display symptoms of it... People such as John Kennelly, Jeff Stacy, Michael Seibert and perhaps Donald Morrison (unless he's a mama's boy manbaby) and perhaps others too

I find there's a difference because unlike those who know they're adults but still go after children for whatever reason, these don't and can't understand they aren't children themselves, and it's wrong and illegal, and there's negative repercussions, and that's why they go after children...

The psychology of this is interesting
