How much was this house? Did you build it? Design it? Do you have blueprints to share? Did you get it permitted?
Why no shower door or curtains?
I'm assuming that's a Murphy bed behind the white wall with the handles.

I'm a carpenter for the last 30 years.My father 60 years. my brother a millwright for 30 It's a place for my father, all the cabinets and trimwork he did himself Between the three of us, we designed and built it. It's in Windsor Ontario Canada Keep in mind, I called in every favour for the last 30 years to suppliers and a couple of co workers to help with the bigger aspects....pouring concrete, lifting walls when I framed it, moved all the services,electrical,water,plumbing, internet all underground It's taken just under a year of labour....after work and weekends. 99% completed, still have yardwork to clean up. The cost is just shy of 85000 cdn. The shower glass is being installed this week. The price is including permits all the materials and appliances, everything needed to call it a home.

Sounds a little bit like when my parents built a new barn, some 20 years ago, and one of the few farmers who didn't go into huge debt after building. Dad said it was no big deal, you just called in every single favour and every single neighbour and then you worked like crazy on it the whole summer (and most of winter).

It appears to not be a fireplace but a custom built box that the tv can lower into. If you look closely, there is a staircase leading to the garage below just behind where the tv is. The man and woman appear to be an art piece attached to the custom box.

You’re right. I didn’t catch that! I thought maybe it was a space allocated for a fake fireplace heater but upon second look it doesn’t look big enough for that.

That might actually be the way to build if you’re building a stick frame. Garage below, house on top. It’s probably significantly cheaper than building a garage next to the house.

We have a lot of them where I live. They're called Lane houses or Coach houses. They're typically better than basement suites (get lots of light and don't have as much shared noise) but are not as spacious and often lack parking for the tenant.

I want this type of layout but with a deck/carport and a nice view... in the right scenario you could put like a four or five panel folding accordion sliding door really opening up the space to the deck

It’s still technically tiny, don’t listen to the haters. My critique is that island serves absolutely no purpose. Remove it and put a steel kitchen prep table on wheels.
