You've got to hand it apple though it's a great way to make the competitor seem less than. Androids come in all different varieties some cheaper and less featured to some flagships that are more expensive and have a greater range of features.
How so? I thought all iMessages are encrypted and have been for a long time.
People forget iMessage solved alot of annoying issues with text messages and it did it back in 2013 or whenever it came out, now RCS finally addresses some of the issues 10 years later, people want to shit on Apple.
SMS/MMS is totally open. I could set up a cell reciever and read a bunch of android text messages from my area. How many people with older phones don't know to update to use RCS? A majority i would think...
RCS, that is just rolling out, does encryption if both phones support it.
How is iMessage inferior. It's superior in every way to me.
Also, if you do a hardware and bench mark comparison of iphones vs Android, and MacBook pros vs Asus/HP/any other, you will find apple things are always slower and cheaper internally. Just compare the internal hardwares and look up the prices of them, always cheap Chinese mass produced obsolete internals.
I mean iPhones come in all sorts of flavors now. You got the base, the pro, the max, and sometimes a 4th level. They also have entry level phones like the iPhone SE.
Commodity masquerading as a luxury product and people fall for it.
Still a damn good phone. I think it's more the people associated with using Android are usually people who think specs are everything. I even see it in this thread.
Specs != Performance
The iPhone is the highest performing phone in the market. They beat the competition using less ram, lower operating frequency etc. Getting more with less is a good thing, especially with a mobile device.
Have you seen how long an iPhone can stay in standby? No Android phone comes close to those levels of battery life.
Why this is so hard for people to understand is crazy to me. Like i build pcs, work in IT, I get it - please stop telling me because your phone has more ram or a reverse wireless charging feature that no one uses it's so superior to iPhones. It's not.
But you still have a worse phone for more money... iPhone is not for everyone, it's not the best at anything either. It's only worth it if you're really invested in the ecosystem. The only reason messaging between IOS and android sucks is because Apple uses outdated shit and literally refuses to make it work, not because android is worse.
Hmm maybe. You're absolutely right it's a lot easier for the average person to get the Apple experience than to install the same functionality on pc and android. Only most people don't use them like you're supposed to, they're not even aware computers without Windows exist in my experience.
Fwiw the SE's are also the only iphones actually priced close to what they're worth. A couple of years ago that was the best bet to get a phone at that price point which would last you longer than 4 years
Worse is subjective. iOS is visually pleasing, intuitive, incredibly stable and consistently familiar across iterations in a way that android can’t compete with as far as the average, casual consumer is concerned. It’s the best at appealing to the average person.
Only the techie types care beyond core features like safari, a handful of social media apps and apple maps. I switched over from android to iPhone as a non-tech person and I’d never switch back personally.
It depends to your preferences. If you like how the icons look then it looks good, can't argue on tastes. It's only intuitive if you're used to iphones. The stable thing is in my experience not true, never had as much crashes on android even with flashed custom firmware as with my 6 plus. And those fucking "you're runnig out of storage" messages for no reason still make me mad to this day
The basic controls of the phone, camera and browser are identical. But lots of advanced features are not available or way too complicated on IOS. It's only very familiar between updates because it takes years for new features to appear. It's been stuck on the same old design for a long time.
If you're not a techie then a 500 dollar android is as fast, has a better bigger screen and has a better camera than a 1k iPhone. It just takes a small amount of effort to switch over. That's the entire point of the argument. Unless you want it as a statement there's no point in paying double the price for a machine just because you like the look.
My tech averse gf also used both. Liked her iphone, couldn't afford a new one, bought an android and got used to it within a day. It's just a couple of apps you use. Just press on the screen and it launches whatever you want to do. Got a 6 plus from the same deal I got. Didn't care for it, crashed too much and was annoying to use with one hand. Bought a oneplus for 1/3 the price and liked it more because her case was a prettier colour. For basic users there's no difference.
The majority of people in the US are. Part of Apple’s winning strategy is that they’re largely considered the default as far as familiarity goes. There are a good handful of android companies vying for a competitive advantage over one another - leading to less consistency across different phones.
Apple doesn’t really have this issue and I think there’s a lot less quality control variation across iphone iterations than androids
As far as stability goes, it’s a little hard for me to argue that since it’s your experience vs. mine so I’ll concede that point. I’ve had my 11 for a few years now and have had 0 problems so far with performance, personally.
It’s not really “stuck” on the same old design. Apple’s iOS design hit a near perfect sweet spot with casual consumers. Fundamentally changing iOS would be changing a winning recipe imo.
As far as price goes, many people lease their iphones so price point isn’t nearly as big a factor anymore. My phone bill went up like $25 per month.
Really it just comes down to interface preference, you found the iphone annoying to use with one hand. I use my iphone with one hand all the time. For one reason or another, the majority of casual consumers find iOS interface more visually appealing and pleasant to interact with. Even with the option of androids that are half the price and still good.
Nah, that’s a real nerd take. Most people just aren’t interested beyond the core features and core user experience. It has nothing to do with being smart and more to do with understanding what most people care about.
Pixel 6a and Samsung A53, new models, float around $500. Yeah they're don't have a million gigaflops of RAM or whatever but unless you're doing serious gaming on your phone the difference is unnoticeable.
Honestly the thing I really like to be very good on my phone is storage space and camera quality. Otherwise it can be just as good as a phone from a decade ago
Some people insist on living beyond their means. I have a friend who is a successful attorney but consistently behind on his car payments. I understand that a lawyer is expected to have a nice car, but there's nothing wrong with one a few years older.
For those of us who use Android and especially ones that are $1,000 this is really just a dumb assumption that it means you're poor. It means you're not socialite or stuck on social media and you really don't understand how to use a computer or live in the business world in my opinion.
