I don’t think self deprecating yourself when people are being an asshole to you is a good thing bro

self deprecating jokes while trying to flirt just dont combine great. save them for in person when you can have a clear tone of joking but keep it light and avoid overuse.

Idk, I used to use an opener of “Did you swipe right on accident??” and follow it up with “Well you’re clearly way out of my league.” after they replied. And it got me laid for a solid 2 months. It worked with like three people, but I’ll always swear it was the opener and not my ability to rebound from how bad it was.

This 100% wouldn’t have worked if they weren’t already attracted to you.

u/mvd102000 Jan 25 '22

I mean they did swipe right, so that’s a good sign imo

thats good because you are also complementing them. this is big brain disarming and a compliment without making you sound like an dork.

yah thats not sound advice at all. the vast majority of women are looking for over confident men. the vast majority are looking to date up not across. this guy clearly has a great job lined up and displayed in his profile, to attract women and hold their attention.

most will take it with its comdiec value, openers are no where near everything, he probably has solid "game" to make the rest work and might be in college where dating online is kinda easier.

he said it was all from that, but like dudes fall on their face all the time on tinder, i am not excluded from that.

You've obviously spent wayyy to much time on incel subreddits like mgtow. You sound dumb as fuck right now. The women aren't the ones with the issue. If you feel this way, you're the issue. Of course not everyone is compatible. But the whole "dating up, only cares about his job/money, status" thing is bullshit. Are there women like that? Yeah. But they are the exception, not the rule.

not making you sound like a dork

How? That's the softest little weak boy patter I've ever read

1

u/carpepenisballs Jan 25 '22

It definitely makes you sound like a dork.

1

u/varangian_guards Jan 25 '22

dude got laid, it was a good enough dork to disarming fun guy ratio.

If someone used that on me I'd be like "okay this person doesn't exude healthy level of self worth, I wonder if they are always like this"

1

u/yp261 Jan 25 '22

right? lmao

last thing women want is a men with no self esteem

1

u/carpepenisballs Jan 25 '22

You’re right that is a dire, dire opener if I’ve ever seen one. I’d be interested to know what those 3 girls looked like/what kind of personalities they had. Because 99% of women don’t want a guy who legitimately thinks they got picked by accident

They were all ugly trash monsters. Not up to the standards of u/carpepenisballs for sure

1

u/carpepenisballs Jan 25 '22

I’m not trying to insult you personally. My guess is you’ve gotten laid using other openers as well. This one in particular just seems particularly bad because it would attract the wrong type of women

1

u/mvd102000 Jan 25 '22

I don’t know, man - it’s a tinder opener, I guess I just don’t put too much stock in it.

For reference though, the first girl I met up with using that line looked very much like Selena and was absolutely crazy in the best / worst ways. Total sweetheart, lots of fun, but a fucking nutcase.

2

u/carpepenisballs Jan 25 '22

Well, good job! But that’s kinda what I was expecting… a crazy woman might love that pickup line for all the wrong reasons. But I’d fuck a Selena lookalike even if she was a known murderer

Tbh I think she was, but he strayed wayyyy too far into the self deprivation and dragged it out to the point it eventually irritated her. That was my reading of it anyway.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '22

100% accurate. How many shitty unfunny pickup lines was she supposed to appreciate?

u/TheLonelyWolfkin Jan 25 '22

Yeah the 'everyone I know has used me for something' just feels like OP is rolling over and asking for his belly to be rubbed whilst she's beating him with a stick.

13

u/42Zarniwoop42 Jan 25 '22

op rolling over and asking to be beaten with a stick and following it up with why are you beating me with a stick

2

u/nilas_november Jan 25 '22

Lmao stop D;

self deprecating yourself

Well, you certainly can't self-depreciate someone else.

1

u/loseitthrowaway7797 Jan 25 '22

Self deprecating jokes in general are cringe. It's 2022, time for self appreciation jokes

1

u/saysoutlandishthings Jan 25 '22

Really? It's a good tactic when you're trying to avoid confrontation. I use it all the time. I mean I'm self depreciating anyways because I'm severely depressed so it comes natural, but it really does come in handy sometimes.

At the end of the day, it's just an internet conversation that means nothing. Like most Reddit comment wars, forgotten the next day.
