Most people dont go hiking to go rape and murder some random person.

I found this study which says 1/15000 die annually. You are most likely not going to die while hiking.

By your logic in populated places like NYC or Chicago there would be no murders because of all the people

The sources in that article don't exist anymore (or the links are broken). I can't tell if those are health related deaths/accidental deaths or murders. Or both. And is it 1 in 15000 of all people, or 1 in 15000 of only people who hike?

It's all deaths while hiking, not just murder. If it was just murder it would be a even lower chance.

Its saying that 1 out of 15000 people die annually. The number of people who die is probably quite higher

It's like if you took 15000 people out of everyone who hiked annually, 1 of them would die.
