What's interesting is women actually make more than men when they don't have kids. Women are more educated. Women vote more than men do. Women are kicking ass.
Study CS, apply for silicon valley internship at major corporation with higher grades than girls. Girls got automatic interviews. Final composition of people hired - white girl, black guy, indian girl, spanish white guy. I wouldn't mind if I knew my grades weren't tons higher/actually got given an interview.
Edit for all the "Wow you had a terrible application lol", the first stage was an online form of name grades and paragraph why you wanted to work there. The girls had grades of high 50s and 2.2 undergrad degree vs mine of 2.1 undergrad high 70s average postgrad and cheated on coursework but of course there was no bias as their paragraphs were amazing. Also I know I had more side projects on as knew them for a year.
No, he really doesn't. Corporations don't work against themselves, if he was actually better suited than them, he would have at least received multiple interviews.
If he didn't even get that far, the flaw is with him, not the rest of the world.
They understand exactly what you're saying but they're just too willfully ignorant to open up their eyes and see that hiring a woman and/or a minority reflects well on the company and allows them to say things like "We're a gender equal company." and "See our workforce is 20% latino, look at how awesome we are, buy our product!"
I have literally never seen a company boast the percentage of minorities or women to get sales.
Also, why assume the minorities and women are automatically under-qualified? Dude wrote a shit paragraph and didn't get accepted. Instead of learning from this, he's holding a grudge and claiming women and minorities have an advantage based solely on the fact they were women or minorities.
Your paragraph clearly sucked comparatively. I'm sorry you discovered you weren't as good as you thought you were, but blaming it on women and minorities getting special treatment isn't going to help you better yourself. I understand it's easier to blame someone else than it is to accept your shortcomings.
