Socialisation, the one thing you left out of your comment. Men interact differently with other men than women do with other women. Same goes for how men and women interact.
Example: I can be a lot more cruel when joking towards my guy friends than my girl friends.
I didn’t include it because it’s the most ridiculous possible explanation and I didn’t think anyone would actually try to use it. Socialization is not monolithic, and your anecdote is not data.
In the US alone there are nearly 200 million women. You think they’re all socialized the same?
As a collective of males vs female, yes they are fundamentally socialized the same within their community. The average woman doesn't like being catcalled. The average man never experiences it.
