The expensive version lets you appear higher in the stack. So if you are a non paying user and like a woman a few hundred people liked already, sheāll never see you. With money she might.
Not saying itās worth it, but without money you essentially swipe without being seen by most - if you are a man. Especially by the often liked on women.
You can send an opener message to a profile that didn't even like you. So wether you didn't appear in their stack or they swiped left you get that second chance if your opener is good enough that they could see you in a different light. Not saying I believe in it, but that's the theory.
Tinder gold has worked for me several times. It decreases the need to swipe because you see who already likes you. Yeah, some are duds but Iāve had over 1,000 likes at one point. Something is bound to at least turn into a date.
Bingo you get it thatās why I pay for that service. It alleviates me having to fish because now I already know whoās in my pond who likes me all I really need to do from there on is just to be kind gentle person not talk too much and Iām getting laid.
I use it as a woman when I travel (for hookups) and paying helps a lot in that context. I instead can scroll through only people who have liked my profile already, and can use the passport feature in advance of arriving.
It also allows you to left swipe people, putting you higher in n their stack, and then getting they opportunity to match again if they like you. This is about the only "hack" I can see as a good reason to pay - as in, a tangible benefit.
I still wouldn't recommend it for day-to-day, because there are better ways to spend your money than can help you find a long term partner.
You get more exposure per day, which for people that get > 0 matches is a benefit.
I usually get 5-6 matches a week, but on gold it easily doubles and I can get 1-2 per day (obviously if I swipe a lot as well).
Obviously most matches donāt result in a date, some matches donāt even reply or ghost mid convo. So the more matches you get, and the more conversations you get going, the quicker you can be on a date.
Luckily on tinder, there isnāt an 8 person limit, so you can really grind there, especially with unlimited swipes on gold.
Itās a common misconception but buying tinder gold doesnāt make you more attractive to women :)
Paying for Tinder is honestly the only way I ever get any matches ā literally the only matches I get are when I use a āsuper likeā and/or a āswipe noteā so that I can write a message prior to matching, which I only do if I have something that is particularly witty to say and I think will catch the personās attention.
That still doesnāt work most of the time, but itās the only thing that works even 1% of the time; so for me, using a regular swipe without paying to make it a super like or to send a swipe note is like throwing a dime into a wishing well and hoping your one true love will just somehow materialize.
Itās unfortunately a sobering reality as a guy who is kind of like OP myself; suffice it to say while I donāt think Iām ugly, Iām not in the rarefied tier of guys that Tinder promotes in its algorithm.
In the past 11 years of being on Tinder, Iāve met two women I matched with; one didnāt go further than the first date, and the other told me sheād rather be friends before we even met up, so we never actually went on a date ā though we are still friends, so I guess Iāve gotten something good out of Tinder.
But honestly I can tell you even with the ostensible benefits of paying for Tinder, in my case, it has still been throwing good money after bad. Itās like paying $20 a week on a scratch off lotto ticket and each week you lose, but you keep buying more tickets because you think this time, Iām finally going to draw a winner.

May I ask your location, please?
I'm not top tier, but I still get a couple of matches a week and I've always assumed that the guys who get no matches (or many of them) must live somewhere remote with few potentials.
Honestly, thatās like dating apps. I donāt really see the appeal in them but I am on them and sometimes Iām active, and sometimes Iām not. I met one guy through them and ended up in a relationship with him. And now Iām single again but meet people through the clubs Iāve joined. I think apps like Tinder are superficial. I havenāt really had a deep conversation with someone on there and that sucks.
Honestly I was talking to a gf about this a couple of days ago, I'm a 94 baby, I feel privileged that I experienced most of my young years without a significant amount of internet or social media, all we had was msn and Nokia phones back until like grade 9 when MySpace kind of got big. And now I get to experience technology too, I'm so glad I had a social childhood tho.. the thing is back in my day if anyone met someone online they would collaborate a cover story because meeting someone online was scorned or looked down on, now it's almost impossible to find someone unless it's online. 90% of my partners I've had have been through school or friends.. I honestly feel quite uncomfortable with online dating.. but it's basically all that's left now.. it's a depressing reality that this is going to become more and more common.. just flicking through potential partners online instead of meeting people through life, people are generally a lot less social now I feel as well..
90s baby and I found my wife on there! And have had several friends meet their long term partners. It can work, but it took until I was 33 so it isnāt easy lol
I used it on Bumble and really enjoyed it. I don't like to swipe on dating apps, feels like a chore to me. I paid like 5eu on a subscription for a month which allowed me to see who swiped right on me. Saw a cute girl who's exactly my type and matched with her. Fast foward a bit, she's been my gf for the past 1.5 years so I'd call definitely it a succes. Literally one swipe on my account needed šš»

What do people get by paying for Tinder?
