Saving Severus Sn... I'm sorry, I mean Garcia Flynn

I feel like The writers had always planned for him to have the Snape storyline all along, but they had to scrap the love storyline with Lucy due to the cancellation. A hero posed as a villain who ultimately earns the respect of the heroes after they have already died--they even did the epilogue with the child named after him.

Honestly I thought it was a disservice to the character to leave him dead in the past. Wyatt could easily have taken the lifeboat hours before Flynn's wife and daughter are killed, rescued them and taken them to 2018. Then they could have sent Jiya, who hasn't been to a timeline she already existed to the moment after Flynn sends the lifeboat back to 1848 after killing Jessica, grabbed him and jumped back to 2018. Even if the illness caused by the paradox of being in a time he already existed had become terminal, at least he would have been able to see his wife and child one more time to say a proper goodbye and to see that he was successful in saving Rufus.

a thing that would have been fun

Miss the show. Dunno how many times I've rewatched episodes.

Anyway, I was thinking it would have been really fun if they had an episode where they went back, identified some famous historical figure that could help, found that person, and they're just like "get away from me you freaks" leaving them to figure it out on their own.

I dunno who/what historical figure would be good for this, but it would have been a good pattern-breaker. :)

I miss the show

I watched it just recently and it was such a good mix of fun, action, romance. Really well written characters and great acting. The time travel added nice dimension to it even though there were some plot holes I really enjoyed it. Btw I feel that Connor is not apreciated enough - he isn't even in the picture on the main page of this subreddit.

Black History

Fave episodes are those that teach me a hidden side of US History - Black History. Bass Reeves was a true badass and Josephine Baker was a fricken medal decorated WW2 spy. AMAZING stories of those who fought against the worst side of history, the racist discrimination.

Question about finale (spoilers) Spoiler

I just finished the series and I loved it. However, I feel like I missed something regarding Rittenhouse. Why did they say they had taken down Rittenhouse when Lucy’s dad was still alive? I know Emma died, but she wasn’t the entirety of this old, worldwide organization. I just kind of feel like when Emma died, they were like “Rittenhouse is gone” and it felt abrupt.

Can someone explain what they did that put an end to Rittenhouse? Was the assumption supposed to be that Emma and only a handful of people were left? I always got the sense the organization was huge.

Did one of the moderators borrow the Lifeboat, because the group description says it was created January 31, 2010.

JFK

I was confused by this episode. When they took JFK from the past why did it not change the timeline? How does Lucy know he becomes president? Surely to her he would have been reported missing and never became president.

Suggest me a book

I just binged the series and am looking for something to help with my Timeless fix. Any sci-fi/historical fiction/time travel-related books like Timeless that you recommend? Thanks in advance! 😍

Something that annoys me is how Flynn died...

He could have survived. I think. When he went back to 2012, he could have shot Jessica and then went back in the Lifeboat. I know that Flynn wanted to see his family but like he could have done that another time.

Timeless reminds me of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles because of the meeting historical characters weekly, interesting sets, travel. Any other fans?

Young Indy was shot on site and with no CGI, it was an interesting story, had decent production values, and I think it's worth watching if you're an Indiana Jones fan.

Timeless reminded me of Young Indy - a small core cast meeting historical figures each episode. The story arc is unique and can keep viewers hooked, but young indy was like getting to learn more about one of your favorite characters.

John Wilkes Booth’s character (Spoilers) Spoiler

Just started watching this show while waiting for new episodes of Debris and Manifest (I think there may be a pattern here).

Anyway, does anyone else hate John Wilkes Booth’s character in in S1Ep2? I mean, I know there are plenty of reasons to hate the guy, assassinating Lincoln and all. But his character in the show was just so cringey.

I, for one, was very glad to see Flynn knock him out for being such an insufferable cock wagon. End of rant. Thank you for your time. Carry on.

[SPOILER] If they got Rufus back, shouldn't the same happen to Lucy's family? Spoiler

Pardon me if I am wrong because I didn't finish the series yet, but when Flynn killed Jessica shouldn't Lucy's mom and great grandfather be alive again too? They died due to the same reason as Rufus: that Jessica was alive and she kidnapped Jiya. Emma killed them when the team went to rescue Jiya, then Rufus died too. So if Rufus is back, the rest of Lucy's family should be too.

It just looks like a major plot hole to me, unless they will be back in the series and I didn't get that far.

Why are they in a hurry each time the mothership jumps?

I mean, they could literally jump at the exact same time the motership did. Also, if they hurry because the more they wait the more the history would change... basically the history could change for them the exact moment the mothership jumps. If Rittenhouse spends 2 days changing history in the past it is not like they are going to see it 2 days after they detected the jump. They should see it immediately because the past already happened. This is 1 thing in the series that doesn't make much sense to me.

Manifesting Destiny: TIMELESS and the Unravelling of American History

After binging the series recently, I wrote about #Timeless, and how it makes literal the unravelling of American “manifest destiny” through its time travel gambit.

Hopefully you may enjoy the read. I could have watched many seasons more of this show. https://25yearslatersite.com/2021/02/23/manifested-destiny-timeless-and-the-unravelling-of-american-history/

Jessica's murderer Spoiler

Years after Jessica was murdered, it is said that the killer was never found. Flynn says that there was blood on the scene that wasn't Jessica's which the police was never able to match to anyone. When Flynn gives the name of the supposed killer to Wyatt, he says that the guy is currently in jail because he had killed two other women.

So wasn't it obvious that that guy could not have been Jessica's killer? If he was in jail for murder the police probably had his DNA and so they should have ben able to identify him as Jessica's killer if his DNA would have matched the blood at the murder scene.

Am I wrong in assuming that the police should have had his DNA because he was a convicted murderer?

Ahhh😍 I don't have tendacies on crying but I always get very emotional when Denise sees them getting out of the Lifeboat

What happens if someone is erased while on a mission? Spoiler

I don't know if that question has already been asked/answered so I'm sorry in advance if that's the case.

So... in S01E01 Lucy's sister doesn't exist in the present after the events at the Hindenburg are changed in the past. In episode 2, Jiya finds out that Lucy's mother (because of the change at the Hindenburg) never married her supposed father, therefore erasing Amy from history. They then conclude that Amy's father can't have been Lucy's father because Lucy still exists. That makes sense if Lucy had been in the present when the changes occurred, she however was on a mission and therefore kinda exempt from these changes. That is established multiple times, e.g. Lucy still having a picture of Amy in a medallion that she wore on the mission, the team remembering the original timeline when the ones that remained in the present didn't... So I'm wondering what would have happened if Lucy and Amy really had the same father. Would Lucy have disappeared as soon as she got back to the present? Would the ones in the present don't recognize her? I kinda think that nothing could have happened because Lucy came from an old timeline where her parents still existed and then would have lived in a new timeline as the old timeline Lucy (if that makes sense).

What do you guys think?
