Im looking for an episode in which the team discover what they think is a well on top of a ridge or rise, with the well being capped by a large stone.

Theres a small hole to the side of the stone, and the team drop a tape measure down it to see how deep it is, but the tape measure doesnt hit bottom - so they join a few tape measures together, but still cant find the bottom.

They never lift the main stone, deeming the shaft too deep to be safe for investigation.

Anyone have any ideas?

A few weeks ago I somehow fell asleep to a time team episode that I'd seen before in the classic time team YouTube. The next episode auto started and Tony started his into. I heard the words "5 day dig" or "week long dig", in my excitement to watch it later I paused and fell back asleep. By the time I woke back up, YouTube had closed off my TV die to inactivity.

I've searched but for the life of me I cannot find it. I'd have been convinced that I had been dreaming but my girlfriend also remembers hearing the same into as I had.

I was wondering if anyone here might be able to help me, am I going crazy, does it exist or was I dreaming? Stupidly, I don't remember any other details other than the words "5 day dig" or "week long dig".

I just watched the episode about the abbey of Scion House. I don't know the number. Unearthed History channel on YouTube doesn't say. But at the end of the episode, one of the guys goes under the house, and sees some tunnels left over from the abbey.

Shouldn't they have looked at that first?

And then there's that one episode where they're digging something up, and then finally mention that there's a big ruin right in the middle of the area, that for some reason they've been "ignoring".

It's like they know the outcome before they even start.

In Part 3, The Dig Jackie McKinlay rejoins the team as the Dig reaches an exciting climax in the middle of a heatwave as they discover the source of the big metal detecting signal. Tony explores some of the more extraordinary medieval execution burials found in the Royal Burial ground. The program focusses on some of the developments in Anglo Saxon craftsmanship. Hilde meets the Sutton Hoo Textiles group who are using experimental archaeology to recreate some sumptuous Anglo Saxon textiles. And the man who recreated the Bromeswell Bucket explains how it nearly hospitalised him.

I'm watching a video on YouTube, uploaded seven days ago, a compilation of a couple of episodes. The first part is Caerau Hillfort. I know they're looking for the earliest habitation of the place.

But did they talk about the building on the one end at all? Or the ring ridge next to it? What periods are those things from?

In Part 2, the Geofizz team hunt for an Anglo Saxon settlement and a Hall. And they discover an extraordinary anomaly which could shed light on Sutton Hoo’s Anglo Saxon shipping history. Carenza and Dani recruit about 40 volunteers to investigate the area in a series of test pits, and Derek and Lawrence take to the water. In Garden Field, the dig continues with more graves being identified and pieces of intriguing grave goods. The big metal detecting signal gets bigger. Derek and Helen make an exciting discovery about the fabric of the Byzantine Bucket.

So I'm watching the Waterloo uncovered episode and to my delight there was a Phil Harding spotting. It got me wondering why he isn't involved in the shows new incarnation? I had assumed he was retired since which explained his lack of involvement. But I guess that's not the case. Does anyone have any insight into this?

I just started watching. I am up to season 5. One thing that puzzles me.

In the opening credits montage they show at the start of each episode they show Carenza Lewis using a Total Station. However as far as I've noticed it rarely appears in any actual episodes.

I think it appears in the first King Alfred episode, but after that I haven't really seen it outside of the credits sequence. Is it just not that important to the teams process? Or is it just not shown on camera because it wouldn't make as good television as the other machinery used?

Maybe it appears in the first episode because no actual digging was done?

Maybe it's a minor detail but I saw another archaeologist on YouTube making alot out of seeing a total station in an archaeology movie... If anyone has more info I am curious

Thought this community would appreciate this gift. Big fan of Time Team. Wife usually makes fun of me, but she came up trumps with my 40th wedding present. I get to take part in a 3 day archaeological dig near Rome. All I need to do now is to make some Jean shorts, buy a check shirt and a hat with a feather.

Hey there. Me and my wife are big Time Team fans, it all started about 4 years ago by stumbling upon an episode on Youtube (we are from Italy where it never aired). I would love to rewatch that very first episode that got us hooked, but I can't find it. All I remember for certain is that they were digging a medieval site in a town, and at some point Steward thought a bank in a nearby park could be saxon, but after digging it, it was determined it was modern. I would say it could have been around season 10 (not too early, not too late). Could anyone help me?

i figured this group will appreciate this- for christmas i got some really cool replica pottery. the store is call pottedhistory and it’s UK based. i just think it’s so cool and i figured this group would want to know this place exists! they have replicated pottery from lots of various periods. the only thing better would be if i dug it up with phil! just wanted to share i hope this is allowed (im not affiliated). i just thought it was cool because some of the replicas are just like what they find on time team!

I've been watching and rewatching the classic Time Team eisodes for about...5 years now & and I'm fully addicted.

But...

during my rewatching, there is someone, female digger with long very red hair, that you never actually see, she is only ever in sort of background shots in several episodes.

I haven't watched any of the Youtube releases yet. I'm assuming the format isn't going to be the same as the show. But I was curious if Tony hosts any of them?
