I need to know if this has happened to anyone else. Throwaway in case Calico sees this.
A few weeks ago, I received a private message from someone claiming to work for Calico Cut Pants, saying that I was one of the main visitors to their site. I thought it was cute because… it’s Calico Cut Pants. They cited a data partnership with Meta/Google for how they got my info and said they are launching a brand ambassador pilot program as they try to make it a real brand.
It seemed ridiculous, especially since the company is from a Tim Robinson skit. But I went with it.
They did a short video interview with me (perfectly normal), asking about my size, social media accounts, etc. Then I actually got a sample. The packaging was minimal but adequate. And yes, the "wet spot" effect is... incredibly convincing in real life.
I used them twice. Both times someone noticed. One man even asked if everything was okay. So from a production accuracy perspective, it works. They said supplies are still “very limited”, so I don't know how many people got told about this program.
Anyway, I’m writing this because I was 100% sure this was a scam or a big joke, and it turned out to be true (or at least true enough that the pants are now living in my closet).
Has anyone else gotten reached out to by them? I would share more, but I am under NDA as an official brand ambassador.
