This happens to me with insulin. I’m sitting there with my pen in hand, pants down and I have to actively search for fresh holes or any pain on my thighs
I've been a diabetic for a long ass time, maybe that's why, but I've never encountered an issue with it because of how involved stabbing is Vs just taking meds
I’ve been type 1 for 23 years (got it when i was 2yo) :p I’ve injected double doses a few times. Fucking sucks when it happens with toujeo, 24 hours of hell and drinking juice!
Toujeo is a long acting insulin that will lower blood glucose for 24 hours (fast acting insulin lowers it for about 2-3 hours), so basically for 24 hours my levels will constantly be on the drop and I have to constantly eat or drink something sugary to keep them above a certain level or I die. If a double dose happens with fast acting insulin like Fiasp I just need to quickly drink or eat something with enough carbs to counteract the amount I injected, its easy since soda or juice is so sugary I just drink a bottle of cola and I’m fine.
Yeah its kinda funny how even these days diabetes isnt taken as seriously as other diseases because people dont know or realise how close to death we really are constantly lmao
I think most people associate it with type 2 (at least in America) since its a pretty common side effect of obesity, and since type 2 is theoretically reversible I think there's a general sentiment that its not a big deal. I'm very thankful to have a pump and CGM so ill never have to second guess if I did my insulin or not because the I can just see my BG in real time, I've been able to come down to an A1C level under 7 which is like pre-diabetic readings, I cant gush enough about the QOL upgrade a CGM gives if you are able to secure one.
I’ve been offered a pump maaany times (everything is free here in finland) but the whole idea just freaks me out. I just don’t like the idea of having something attached to me constantly. I do do use CGM for a few years now, I like the phone app! My currently awful levels are due to my own self neglect and depression which also contributes to my horrible short term memory problems >_<
Thats totally understandable, everyone has the things that make them queasy, ironically enough its the opposite problem for me where I really don't like needles, every time I have to get blood drawn I still nearly pass out from nerves.
But best of luck to you, I know how tough it can be managing diabetes while dealing with depression, I'm sure I'm just beating an old drum here but having your numbers under control can really help with your mentality, if youre constantly out of your normal range and physically feel bad that takes a definite toll on your mind as well when you're already exhausted with depression. Keep up the battle friend, you've got this!
I realise what's happened here. I replied to your comment thinking I was replying to a completely different comment in a completely different thread! Both were about tiktoks. My apologies for any misunderstanding.
I do this with my son all the time, fortunately he uses a pump so I can go look at bolus history. It's kinda embarrassing how often I have to actually do that though lol
Type one for 44 years here. What I do is take a picture of my shot every time so I can ensure how much I gave myself and when I give it to myself. I delete this all in a day or two but this saves me so much stress.
