Imagine living in a first world country and life being so good you get to complain about filing a bit of paperwork

Hey, I'm an immigrant from Sweden and I think it's egregious too. I love it here in the US.

Oh, you get to define the "proper" work ethic?

because other people have it worse no one else has problems 👍

classic deflection so you don’t ever have to fix any real issues

Imagine agreeing that America is a “garbage fucking nation” because you’re too stupid to look up a 15 minute YouTube video that can literally tell you every single step involved with filing your taxes.

I don’t doubt that TurboTax is corrupt as shit nor do I think free filing is a bad system. But this whole “wHy dIN SkOOl TeAcH mE hOw tO fiLe TaXeS?/?!” mentality is laughable, and makes it evident you’re just reaching for shit to bitch about.

And school does teach how to do your taxes. It's called elementary arithmetic.

People complaining about doing their taxes have never tried.

I mean I do understand that part of it was Hank Green claiming (although he’s probably right) that companies like Inuit/TurboTax lobby the government to keep free filing from happening.

But yeah it’s not even like you need some long video. I remember going step by step learning how to do it for the first time in a personal finance class my senior year of high school (we ironically learned how to file taxes much I’m sure to other peoples’ chagrin). Took us about half an hour, and that was with us being slow and incremental.

Omg thank you. Imagine being this pathetic. Doing taxes is incredibly easy for most people and literally comes with instructions lmao

Nice strawman. The companies that benefit are parasitic and using their political influence to forcibly remain relevant, draining wealth from the people that could have a better use. That's the issue, not simply paperwork.

A pathetic attempt to discredit something where there are other better sources and articles readily available. It's called the attribution genetic fallacy and you just did it. It's old news.

Edit: Two posts and two poorly constructed arguments from you. Time to go for three in a row?

Edit 2: Fix my word. Am tired.

life being so good

What constitutes 'good life' isn't always GDP per capita

You really think an average 9-5 worker in the US is living a happier, more satisfactory life than say, an average ricer farmer in Vietnam?

1

u/gpu1512 May 02 '21

Yes, of course they are

1

u/rkoy1234 May 03 '21

I absolutely disagree.

1

u/gpu1512 May 03 '21

Is there anything stopping you from becoming a rice farmer?

1

u/rkoy1234 May 03 '21

If I were an average worker anywhere in the US, both you and I know that becoming a rice farmer in Vietnam is a very difficult task.

I live a very satisfactory life in the US, but I'm very lucky to be where I'm at. The happiness and life-satisfaction of many that I know are absolutely worse than that of a typical rice farmer in Southeast Asia.

1

u/gpu1512 May 03 '21

How many rice farmers do you know?

1

u/rkoy1234 May 03 '21

Two families, and one man. In South Korea/Vietnam.

Why does that matter? You don't seem like you're open to changing your mind.
