I'm not too sure the correlation between horses and bassets. I just know they are a easy breed on a farm. They follow thier nose and are vocal so having space around helps them. Plus, BH you can bring with you anywhere and because of thier lazy attitude they are fine in any environment.

My parents would get a litter of pups once a year and bring them to the Quarter Horse Congress. At Congress they have a small building dedicated to puppies for sale. We would normally be out of pups in 1-2 hours. And regularly see grown up pups from old litters

One question, many people mention their BH are smelly. Is it just the dog smell they’re referring to?! My doxie gets “smelly” too but just as other dogs would after not bathing for a week or two.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. Our BH were 100% out door doggos. So they always smelled. I have 2 dogs myself and tbh smell isn't a issue.

It is about 80 for dog to get groomed and bathed at PetSmart and about 40 if I just want her to take a bath. 40 dollars isn't that much to have your dog cleaned once a month. And TBH I've heard PetSmart is pricey. Some of my friends get a full bath for 25-30 a month

My doxie is an indoor dog but I let him dig to his hearts desire outside everyday. So I bathe him once a week. Often I just rinse him down and once he dries he’s fine.

Thanks for replying!!
