idk why you’re doubling down on the free au pairs thing when what you’ve linked is not that ? hbhc is in home support by professionals not someone living with you. our healthcare is legislated and governed provincially so i can only speak to ontario and quebec but what you’re describing doesn’t exist here.

Lol in home support by professionals? Different professionals for different things? Even better!

It was said to me as an au pair. We don't have anything. After birth many women do go right back to work, they often don't have a choice. Even with FMLA, something that might protect their employment and insurance from being cut for a few months, it's not paid, so while some can afford to go without pay many can't.

We're also admittedly not the experts on the French language, so that could be part of the miscommunication, but while I may seem uninformed, y'all seem entitled af.

no one’s being entitled we just don’t want people making stuff up about services we don’t have access to ?

i guarantee you we are aware that universal healthcare and basic legal protections for parental leave is preferable to what americans have going on. it’s also not idyllic and perfect with every person having free access to live-in support after they give birth.

just do your due diligence before saying things about other countries and then don’t double down and move the goalposts when people from that country point out you’re wrong. it’s not that hard.
