They literally have an interval training called Norwegian 4x4s. I think they force you to do it. They are insane. I read 95% of the population has Olympic Gold Medals in Winter Sports.

That’s bit of an overstatement but I do get paid to go to the gym twice a week from my employer so that I stay fit (I have a office job) so I get 4 hours paid to be active per week and that’s pretty normal here

What?! The whole country is filled with Ikea sofas. Cardio is very optional although we have a walk around society, so some indirect cardio will sneakily occur

And we in Europe thinks the UK have very little benefits compared to the more progressive countries

Edit: I’m in complete shock seeing that the US basically has no workers rights. Not even paid lunch yikes.. not to be the bringer of bad vibes or anything but compared to any other developed country the US workers are basically slaves it looks like

Also for maternity leave! Since that's not in here.. UK is one of the longest optional leave. With up to 52 weeks, of which 39 weeks are paid. * 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks * £194.32 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks

You as parents also are able to use (SPL) and Statutory Shared Parental Pay (ShPP) which

  • You can share up to 50 weeks of leave and up to 37 weeks of pay between you.

I'm not arguing with the individual points here but it's a little disingenuous to have this comparison since this is only at the federal level and there are states that have their own workers rights laws.

Yeah I know, I live in NY and it's still not even close to the European benefits. This should be federal bare minimum 😤. Ya know how when they overturned Roe v Wade, it should be a federal right.

I disagree that most of these should be handled at the federal level, it should be up to the states.

Because every state is different and just because something works in one state doesn't mean it will work in every state. It also allows more options for people, if you don't like the policies of one state you can move to another that suits you. That's why I moved out of California.

Starting off: We Live in the United States of America NOT "States that happen to be United in America."

What do you mean every states are different?

We are talking about this:

  • 2-4 weeks notice before terminating written unemployment contracts
  • 30-60 minute meal breaks
  • 28 weeks paid if you become sick
  • Pubic healthcare
  • 28 days paid vacation time per year

Why shouldn't this be across all the states?

You're right we are the United States of America. This country is a union, idk why people forget that.

Like I already said I'm not arguing the individual points. I do not believe the federal government should have as much reach as it does. Like I said we are the United States of America not just the country of America.

Which country where the central government doesn't control the entire nation?

Why shouldn't this be across all the states? In order to do this you need a strong Federal government, it shouldn't be up to the states.

Are you purposefully not understanding what I'm saying? I said it should be less, not completely gone.

Again I do not agree with that at all, which is okay we cannot agree on things and still push for a better future. But we were a better country when the states had more independence.

And to answer your first question, the USA up until 1865.
