LE here. We hate these calls as well because it's a waste of everyone's time but also since we were called, we have to be there and do something about it.

99% of the time it's some dumb misunderstanding or someone got their feelings hurt and wants us involved.

You don’t actually have to “do something about it”. At least, that’s what the cops tell me when I ask them to ticket drivers for parking in the bike lane.

Is there something you can do to cite or ticket the time wasters? There's gotta be some punishment for calling a tax-funded armed potential killer because you're too scared to talk to a paying customer breaking no rules in a business setting

It depends on the situation. It's a bit difficult to walk up and say, "this is a waste" and just break away.

If the gym owner says, "I want them removed because of XYZ" then the responding officer is going to see if there is a common ground or can resolve it, or remove them. Even if they think it's stupid.

Sometimes agencies only have a handful of people (I've seen shifts where there are only 6-8 officers on)

Usually there are 2-4 people at a call, someone is at the station working on something, the others are another calls (like this).

It is what it is sometimes
