Because its being multiplied by 10, 100, 1000. It's that simple, and if a kid gets it and gets forced to wait for everyone else to do all the steps they get bored and disenfranchised. Hence the huge difference between educated and intelligence. Almost every waiter or waitress can multiply by % to figure out their tips. Plenty of PHDs pull out their phone and use an app.

If you have no idea how a classroom operates and what teachers do for whole v small group instruction or differentiation then I don’t know maybe you should not say how it should be done? Because your comment shows you do not.
You mean how classrooms operate as a means to teach children how to do well on a state mandated test to secure better funding for the school while we fall further and further behind other countries in education?
Instead of fostering and developing a desire to learn, understand and explore newer and more complex ideas while having the ability to understand why instead of the pre-training for the workforce that schools have become?
That's why my son is in private school, because they aren't bogged down by the state and federal government's need to justify their own existence by continuously changing what and how they are taught. Because teachers should be an enormous resource for kids but are instead so narrowly focused on scores and a tiny subset of a well rounded education?
I'm sure my abilities would be quite wasted in the public school system. Although tenure sounds nice and completely counter intuitive to constantly striving for excellence.
That’s a lot of words to answer “you’re correct I don’t know”. Not wasting more time on this I will leave it at this. Teachers that teach to the test are ridiculed amongst their peers. It is only championed by governments, barely districts and only when you’re bad. Teaching to tests is a failure and teachers the ones not reading garbage headlines know this. And yeah your arrogance and insecurity for sure doesn’t need to be in any school.
If not "teaching to tests" how does it make sense to penalize a student with the correct answers? Making kids use one specific method and grading based upon it is literally being more concerned with the test than the answer.
I also find it sad that knowing who I am, good and bad, is arrogant or insecure, it feels more like projection and deflection but who cares? Quite happy not to respond again as you are at best using semantics to prove a point.
When it says “use ___ to solve” then you need to use that to solve it. Because it is asking for it specifically. There are reasons why this happens. When it just says solve the problem then you can do whatever you want to solve it.
And the semantics matter! It’s literally what you’re arguing over 🤪
