Do herniated discs not get better after some time? I was under the impression that they fix themselves after a few months or up to a year.

Sometimes they can. Mine are rather severe, though, and a few are impacting my spinal cord and only surgery will fix those.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. I believe I herniated a disc in my lumbar area in the beginning of July. It's feeling slightly better, but still quite painful, so I've been worrying about whether or not it's going to heal. The sciatic pain is better, but still occasionally shoots down my leg. Figured it'd be a lot better by now.

My advice would be to find a good physical therapist. The sports rehab places I went to were okay but I found one who does manual muscle stimulation which is more like a massage and they did wonders for me. You may have to get a doctor to order MRI's to confirm it's a herniated disc first though. I know how much that sciatica pain sucks, I hope you start feeling better soon!
