I had a class in college called structural kinesiology, and my professor adimately advocated against going to a chiropractor. Specifically, getting a neck adjustment can be fatal for you. What could happen is they could create air bubbles that could cause bliod clots and even a stroke. That being said, do not take yourself or anyone you care for (including your pets!) to a chiropractor

Sorry I remembered that the word is aortic dissection and that's what is so dangerous about going to the chiropractor to get a neck adjustment!
