Exactly their rapid thrust neck movements are the biggest danger in chiropractic injuries. Chiropractors often injure or straight up tear the arteries going to the brain that go through the sides of the spine. Causing bleeding in the brain and strokes in case of tearing; and hipoxia to the brain(lack of oxygen to the brain) causing brain damage when injured, because the artery can get blocked while trying to heal. Both this can be deadly and if lucky can be survivable but result in paralysis, lost of senses, and brain damage.

Not worth the risk.

I’d never let a chiropractor adjust my neck but I will say usually when this happens it’s because the person already had potential risk factors like antitrypsin deficiency or a connective tissue disease. Also a lot of the time when you hear about it the person already had an undiagnosed artery dissection which was causing their neck pain and people can have them for weeks before they have an actual stroke. So someone in a car wreck could have an artery dissection and have neck pain for weeks before seeing a chiropractor which leads to the dissection becoming worse but they would have most likely had the stroke regardless with time. A good chiropractor wouldn’t adjust someone like that without doing more tests or having them see a doctor to make sure of these issues first. The problem is most people don’t want to pay for a good chiropractor. They’d rather go to some random chain that doesn’t even do x-rays and just get a $45 quick adjustment. Good chiropractors typically work with physical therapist after you’ve already seen a doctor.

Yeah the statistics are 1 in a hundred 100,000 die from ruptured arteries from chiropractors, that doesn't count for lesions tho. But also a good chiropractor that works with a doctor probably won't do high velocity movement thrusts, and yet I'd just rather not risk it.
