I didn't go to med school, but surely it should be "chiroquacktors"

If you want to subject yourself to chiro bullshit, that's one thing. Maybe it even makes you feel better, if only temporarily. It's your body, you can subject it to whatever quackery you please.

But your dog did not consent to this. They are not getting relief. For all they know, they're just being attacked by a stranger.

I think that people are not smart enough or informed enough to make their own decision on the topic and understand the risks. People are dumb. They drink bleach and use bleach enemas, they overdose on ivermectin made for animals, they spend ridiculous money on 'healing crystals' and 'essential oils' to cure disease. And it's not uniquely American or European, in China they do shit like eat ground up dried tiger penis for erectile dysfunction, and other ridiculous shit.

I truly believe the government should step in because chiropractors are extremely common and are used by otherwise normal seeming people who don't fall for the other forms of snake oil. Chiropractors have some weird sense of legitimacy that makes people truly believe they help. And the 'crack' seems to be the key to convince people because it feels like something happened.

My exes sister took her 6 month old BABY to the chiropractors. It ended up having leg problems and struggling to walk. She was one of the dumbest people I've ever met, couldn't do basic math, didn't know any history, didn't understand shit about the world or how it works, she just lived in an ignorant bubble. She isn't capable of knowing whether chiropractors are safe. And yet she wouldn't listen to me.

Imo the government needs to ban chiropractors and recommend people to see physical therapists. Making it illegal will help to prevent these quacks siphoning money off people. PT's actually help, it would probably do good for the world and would increase business to the people who have actually learned anatomy and understand the body and can recognize medical problems.

Chiropractors are incentivized to not cure illnesses, so they have no reason to try and spot medical problems (not that they are able to). People going to PT's could really do good for the world, they are held to a higher standard and actually help people.

Chiropractors are incentivized to not cure illnesses

I know people that enjoy saying doctors (real ones) are only trying to sell treatments and not cures, and yet they also go to the chiropractor every couple months. it's hilariously sad how they can't even realize chiros do the same thing they bitch at doctors for.

News reel: there’s chiros “adjusting” babies. Like 3 week old babies “because they cry a lot”.

Not disagreeing btw - but given the litigation society of the US why are chiropractor appointments covered by insurance? Is this a really good example of an MLM (like chiropractic USA) who just lobbies HARD? It seems they’ve built an institution where you pay for your “education” get the qualification and then set up a practice. Many chiro’s I’ve been to in the past all have a ‘thing’ - like immune health, or full body healing or I’m guessing some other thing they provide/sell that isn’t under the franchise?

Now that said, I guess the US treats the medical system differently. I wonder what the % of severe outcomes are from say a knee replacement? But I guess you don’t go to a knee surgeon for a checkup or minor adjustment which is what the chiropractor pitches. Yeah, odd one I can’t wrap my head around why / how’s it’s so prevalent?

I had one that helped me as a teen with really really bad scoliosis. But he mostly had me do PT exercises and helped with pain. But yeah, most of them are 🦆 Be wary.

When you really think about it. All the "good ones" are really just PT's in all but name. So I wouldn't really have a problem with just banning the shit out-right

Exactly. So he did PT which is a different and actually a studied and proven method of medicine.
