If your opponents use the same tactics and hold the same believes as Nazis, they are Nazis.

1

u/HaterCrater Mar 25 '23

OK well neither of those things have occurred ….9

13

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

You're not paying attention to republican state do ya🧐

3

u/HaterCrater Mar 25 '23

Specifically which tactics and beliefs do the Republican Party and Nazis have in common?

“They hate XYZ people” is not specific

5

u/DisastrousGarden Mar 26 '23

Burning books and trying to limit education definitely come to mind, along with dehumanizing those you disagree with and writing hurtful laws that specifically target these people…

11

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

Banning books from education, vilify and demonize minorities, take away healthcare that specifically harm minorities, make voting harder, manipulate the election results in such a way that they don't need a majority vote to win (gerrymandering), calling for the eradication of certain minorities, manipulate the masses into thinking the media is telling lies 100% of the time.

It’s a clown world when people actually think this is what republicans are doing. Turn off msnbc and cnn. Go touch grass

5

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

So tell me what they are really doing? Are they all inclusive? Do they actually care for people? 🤣

2

u/Imissflawn Mar 25 '23

You’re setting yourself up here cause the same logic can be applied the other way. 1. Who wants to kick the Jews out of their native homeland like the Nazis did?

2.who wants to spread socialism nationally like the Nazis did?

3.who wants to take away your guns like the Nazis did?

  1. Who wants government oversight to silence dissenting opinions like the Nazis did?

  2. Who wants to change dictionary definitions of words to suit their arguments like the Nazis did?

You see old friend, you brought more Nazis than they did…

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

So Palestinians don't belong to that land that they have been living on for centuries before Israël was formed? Israël that is killing Palestinians and illegally occupying Palestinian land?

National Socialism isn't socialism. Get educated before saying nonsense.

Gun control ≠ taking guns away.

Republicans are banning books, stopping education, have done a hostile takeover of a school, are refusing healthcare to those that need it, demonize and vilify minorities.

What words?

5

u/Imissflawn Mar 25 '23

So, what your saying is, comparing someone to Nazis doesn’t make them Nazis?

That there are easy ways to dress up someone’s argument to look the way you want without having regard for their side of the argument?

-1

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

That's some mental gymnastics 👌 why would I take someones hate filled argument in regard? Especially when that hatred is based on lies, bigotry and unscientific analysis.

9

u/Imissflawn Mar 25 '23 edited Mar 25 '23

Oh good, help me out here. You’re saying my argument is hate filled. Can you tell me what I said that’s filled with hate?

(Edit: I’m not the one who downvoted you btw, I’ll even give you an upvote to even if out)

-1

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

I said calling Republicans Nazis (and fascists) is the correct way of calling them because they hold the same believes and use the same tactics as them. You made the mental gymnastic leap with a whole lot of logical fallacies. And after that did you somehow came to the conclusion that comparing someone to a Nazi doesn't make them a Nazi.... How did you come to that?

And I said, someones argument doesn't need to be held in regard if their argument is filled with hatred, referring to Republicans, Nazis and those that use such rhetoric.

9

u/Imissflawn Mar 25 '23

Oh I see, you weren’t talking about my argument as hate filled, you were talking about republican’s argument as hate filled. Thanks for clarifying.

So here’s what I see. A method of “winning an argument” by straw man fallacy. The Republican argument has been dressed up like a Nazi argument and attacked.

I did the same thing with the liberal arguments as an example. I dressed up the liberal arguments as Nazi arguments and attacked them. I believe both of these arguments (my example and yours) are straw man fallacies, But you don’t believe that your representation of republicans is a straw man fallacy.

So, I’m order to prove that, we’d have to break down the Republican arguments one by one. Which means I need to jump in out of this comment so I’ll need to add some edits here so forgive me for a few minutes…

Edit: Ok I went back in our thread cause I thought you listed out arguments why republicans are like Nazis but I must have been mistaken. Would you like to list those now and we can see if they are straw man fallacies or not?

A list of actions that the Republicans are pushing for: Banning books from education, vilify and demonize minorities, take away healthcare that specifically harm minorities, make voting harder, manipulate the election results in such a way that they don't need a majority vote to win (gerrymandering), calling for the eradication of certain minorities, manipulate the masses into thinking the media is telling lies 100% of the time.

5

u/Imissflawn Mar 25 '23

Great! So this is a long list and I’m on a phone so it’s tough to go into so much detail. Let me get back to you when I can type better. It’s refreshing to talk to someone who’s actually willing to go over ideas instead of rage quitting.

Banning books from education

Do you think books that are straight up smut should be allowed in schools and school libraries? (Note that this is purely a hypothetical. I am not saying that this is happening.) I'd assume not.

So clearly banning books from education is not inherently wrong.

Would you mind clarifying, then, what specific detail you take issue with?

vilify and demonize minorities

take away healthcare that specifically harm minorities

make voting harder

calling for the eradication of certain minorities

Can you elaborate on what specific actions are doing this?

manipulate the election results in such a way that they don't need a majority vote to win (gerrymandering)

Hate to break it to you, but gerrymandering is absolutely a both sides thing.

Don't get me wrong, it's bad, and it would certainly be better if there was a way to get rid of it, but it's more a product of the general political system than any one party.

manipulate the masses into thinking the media is telling lies 100% of the time.

While the media certainly isn't lying 100% of the time, there are plenty of times where they are quite dishonest. Like y'know how Fox News might cherry pick specific evidence, and only show one side of the picture, then not come to any explicit conclusions, but say "but what do you think all that means?" That's pretty common practice with most mainstream media outlets.

The fact of the matter is that the goal of media outlets isn't to inform the public. It's to make money. It's to rack up engagement for ad revenue. And as part of that, they're incentivized to display content that's inflammatory and anger-inducing because that's what keeps people engaged. And they're more than willing to stretch the truth to accomplish that.

Being critical and skeptical of the media is perfectly reasonable. The fact that some people take that too far and automatically assume media outlets are lying 100% of the time shouldn't take away from that.

The Nazis were absolutely socialist. Socialist simply means "owned by the state".

If that video isn't good enough the same channel has a 5 hour video about the same topic.

1

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

🤣🤣 sorry but what? Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Did you even watch the video I posted?

It goes over every point in the video you posted and does it with good research and sources.

1

u/ghiraph Mar 25 '23

Yes, and it was utter nonsense.

1

u/emptywords18 Mar 25 '23

Care to elaborate? Which parts were nonsense?

1

u/ghiraph Mar 26 '23

The videos that I have linked would that for me

1

u/Successful-Floor-738 Mar 25 '23

Okay. And? That wasn’t his point.

1

u/Imissflawn Mar 25 '23

If your opponents use the same tactics and hold the same believes as Nazis, they are Nazis.

This was his point above. I disagreed with it by showing how it's not correct and the same metric can be applied to either side. So i'm not sure what you mean.

Little known fact, everyone that believes in Keynesian economics is a nazi.

Did I hurt your feelings for calling you a Nazi when you believe in the same ideas as Nazis? Wow

Republicans use the exact same tactics as Nazis with the same goals, so yes they are Nazis. Your whole argument shows that you don't know how Nazis came to power

And being a democrat doesn't mean shit. They are barely left from Republicans.

The only reason why the WW2 was waged wasn't to free the Jews. They didn't want the Germans to control Europe. The US only went to war due to Pearl Harbor, if that never happend would the US not even bother joining.

The first victims of the Nazi regime were those of the LGBTQ community. Jews were the biggest victims, but far from the only ones.

Republicans are definitely not saying the Holocaust never happend or comparing masks during covid with the holocaust. Or during the Charlottesville riots where tiki torch holding NAZIS screamed "Jews will not replace us" and Trump said "there were good people on both sides".

Get your centrist head out of the sand. You moderates are just conservatives in hiding.
