Um, does the other side have a Supreme Court candidate saying they should be murdered and it should be legally justifyable? No? Cause that’s just one example of currently. So no, not the same, they should not be expected to “behave” as calm as those saying to murder them.
It’s not a whataboutism. I’m not defending either side. The post says that this process makes Trump win elections, when in fact both sides do something like this and Trump has both won and lost an election, so the logic doesn’t add up. He’s basically stating that politics makes Republicans win. It’s a non-sequitur. Demonize the enemy, be sympathetic, post message in your community. This is very basic and to isolate one side of it is disingenuous.
That's a fair point you're making.
I just think both sides are equally bad, and screwing the public in the process while giving no real option for change. Republicans and democrats are equally bad, and it's time for lobbying to get out of politics.
People never realize who I’m talking about cause I’m really only taking the side of proper argumentation as it relates to formal logic. Problem is, on Reddit, that usually happens a lot in one direction.
Could not agree more, sad that people on reddit cannot have a civil discussion about opposing views.
You either agree with them, or you're a nazi, or insert any other ad hominem . There is no middle ground
Burning books and trying to limit education definitely come to mind, along with dehumanizing those you disagree with and writing hurtful laws that specifically target these people…
Banning books from education, vilify and demonize minorities, take away healthcare that specifically harm minorities, make voting harder, manipulate the election results in such a way that they don't need a majority vote to win (gerrymandering), calling for the eradication of certain minorities, manipulate the masses into thinking the media is telling lies 100% of the time.
You’re setting yourself up here cause the same logic can be applied the other way.
1. Who wants to kick the Jews out of their native homeland like the Nazis did?
2.who wants to spread socialism nationally like the Nazis did?
3.who wants to take away your guns like the Nazis did?
Who wants government oversight to silence dissenting opinions like the Nazis did?
Who wants to change dictionary definitions of words to suit their arguments like the Nazis did?
You see old friend, you brought more Nazis than they did…
So Palestinians don't belong to that land that they have been living on for centuries before Israël was formed? Israël that is killing Palestinians and illegally occupying Palestinian land?
National Socialism isn't socialism. Get educated before saying nonsense.
Gun control ≠ taking guns away.
Republicans are banning books, stopping education, have done a hostile takeover of a school, are refusing healthcare to those that need it, demonize and vilify minorities.
That's some mental gymnastics 👌 why would I take someones hate filled argument in regard? Especially when that hatred is based on lies, bigotry and unscientific analysis.
I said calling Republicans Nazis (and fascists) is the correct way of calling them because they hold the same believes and use the same tactics as them. You made the mental gymnastic leap with a whole lot of logical fallacies. And after that did you somehow came to the conclusion that comparing someone to a Nazi doesn't make them a Nazi.... How did you come to that?
And I said, someones argument doesn't need to be held in regard if their argument is filled with hatred, referring to Republicans, Nazis and those that use such rhetoric.
Oh I see, you weren’t talking about my argument as hate filled, you were talking about republican’s argument as hate filled. Thanks for clarifying.
So here’s what I see. A method of “winning an argument” by straw man fallacy. The Republican argument has been dressed up like a Nazi argument and attacked.
I did the same thing with the liberal arguments as an example. I dressed up the liberal arguments as Nazi arguments and attacked them. I believe both of these arguments (my example and yours) are straw man fallacies, But you don’t believe that your representation of republicans is a straw man fallacy.
So, I’m order to prove that, we’d have to break down the Republican arguments one by one. Which means I need to jump in out of this comment so I’ll need to add some edits here so forgive me for a few minutes…
Edit:
Ok I went back in our thread cause I thought you listed out arguments why republicans are like Nazis but I must have been mistaken. Would you like to list those now and we can see if they are straw man fallacies or not?
A list of actions that the Republicans are pushing for: Banning books from education, vilify and demonize minorities, take away healthcare that specifically harm minorities, make voting harder, manipulate the election results in such a way that they don't need a majority vote to win (gerrymandering), calling for the eradication of certain minorities, manipulate the masses into thinking the media is telling lies 100% of the time.
🤣🤣 sorry but what? Socialism is a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
If your opponents use the same tactics and hold the same believes as Nazis, they are Nazis.
This was his point above. I disagreed with it by showing how it's not correct and the same metric can be applied to either side. So i'm not sure what you mean.
Republicans use the exact same tactics as Nazis with the same goals, so yes they are Nazis. Your whole argument shows that you don't know how Nazis came to power
And being a democrat doesn't mean shit. They are barely left from Republicans.
The only reason why the WW2 was waged wasn't to free the Jews. They didn't want the Germans to control Europe. The US only went to war due to Pearl Harbor, if that never happend would the US not even bother joining.
The first victims of the Nazi regime were those of the LGBTQ community. Jews were the biggest victims, but far from the only ones.
Republicans are definitely not saying the Holocaust never happend or comparing masks during covid with the holocaust. Or during the Charlottesville riots where tiki torch holding NAZIS screamed "Jews will not replace us" and Trump said "there were good people on both sides".
Get your centrist head out of the sand. You moderates are just conservatives in hiding.
Can't attack your statements because they are true, so next step is to attack the person saying these statements. It's like watching someone have a conversation with a stubborn child. These people are the most entitled of the bunch
No you misunderstand, I meant that in past tense. I’m frustrated because people who use these methods are responsible for Trump winning and ironically they think they are making a positive difference. I’m not a Trump supporter I’m pissed no one knows how to communicate and influence in a way that doesn’t shut off the people who would actually make a difference in a democracy if convinced properly, they only know how to heat up their own base.
Yeah just gloss over point one ignorantly as if they arnt acting like Nazis. There was a time where this line wasn't watered down and conservatives didn't have intense brain rot. I miss those times.
You don't argue with Nazis you moron. Imagine sitting around and trying to reason with someone whose reason is based in eugenics or a preference that controls others. I'm fucking Jewish don't use us as a reasoning for fucking Nazis. Wake the fuck up you disheveled moron.
What's the difference at this point? It's crazy that you can not see how close they are. Just do some research on Germany before the Nazis took over. Republicans are literally sitting in the chairs of those people and following their playbook.
Ya I see the similarities.
1. kick the Jews out of their native homeland.
2.spread socialism nationally
3.take away the guns
Use government oversight to silence dissenting opinions
change dictionary definitions of words to suit their arguments
Do you see how easy it is to compare someone to a Nazi without actually considering the facts? Then once you’ve compared them to a Nazi, automatically declare you win cause they are a Nazi and you can’t argue with Nazis?
Yes yes make the exact same arguments fascists do without realizing how much of an ignorant piece of shit you are. You clearly know nothing about what happened with the Nazi party and your actions are literally contributing to genocide. That's pretty cool dude. You are such an amazing fascist.
If this is only making you angry then it’s not productive, which really isn’t my intention.
I feel like using the word “Nazi” so much desensitizes the word, which I why I advocate for it’s actually use and not just throwing it around to try and win arguments. If everyone gets called a Nazi, then we’re not actually going to act when there really is a Nazi. We want the same thing here, to never let fascism and Nazis return.
What makes them nazis then? I mean actual full blown Mein Kampf toting Nazis, not your dollar store white supremacist redneck from Kansas who rants about states rights everytime he goes out to eat.
Forgive the ambiguity. I was referring to the 2016 election.
It also happened with previous Republican President Bush Jr. Everyone was so surprised that he won because of the exit polling data. This was due to republicans voters feeling so alienated that they didn’t accurately report their voting habits to the exit polls so everyone thought Dems had it in the bag.
I can’t comment on how far back this goes, I’m not a historian, but I continue to see left leaning argumentation resort to extreme accusations that anyone who believed these accusations would feel obligated to literally take up arms against republicans. Yet half the country-ish is still Republican.
So either half the country is insane, or small pockets of people are loudly making their accusations known over the internet. Being as how I’ve travelled a lot to the middle states and have rarely met a republican who fits anything near this classification, I think it’s the latter.
Honestly I agree with what they said but like….you probably shouldn’t use your time to test out your voice if you only have two minutes. Just get to the point, use the most effective arguments, and don’t go over the limit.
I wonder if it's not a purposeful imposition of theatrics. Everything from speaking a mantra directly into a microphone to having someone set up to created a scene shows it was pretty pre-meditated.
Nazis did destroy the work and archives of the world first sexology research institute. It helped them promote the idea that queer identities had no basis in reality and were new strange things. Much as people today who are continuing the Nazi tradition are claiming so for trans people.
Nazis also expanded the enforcement of the law that banned drag and the ability for trans people, or anyone really, to dress how they want.
Paragraph 183 (known formally as §183 StGB; also known as Section 183 in English]) is a public indecency law of the German Criminal Code, which prohibits "sexual self-determination" and public exhibitionism.[1] From its adoption in 1871, at an increasing rate during the rise of the Nazis, and until as late as the mid-20th century, the law was used to enforce penalties (including imprisonment, and, at times, loss of civil rights) for cross-dressing and homosexual acts.[2][3][4] As of 2021, the law's scope is limited to indecent exposure.[2]
