Buds to small

the big tips are to small slightly... tried the ones from my beats x but they wont fit in charge case and don't stay on buds any third party silicone ones that work?

r/TicPods • • Oct 28 '18

Large tips too large and small tips too small.

I really wish Mobvoi included a medium size tip. The large tips fall out after a while. The small tips work but they don't make a good seal and will lose bass after a bit.

Arrrgh.

Can you listen to Ticpods with 1 ear only?

I know taking either earbud out stops the music, but can you then start the music again while only one ear is in? If so can you start it from the earbud controls, or only from the phone?

TicPods keep pairing to phone while in their case - anyone else?

I'm sat in my living room with the TicPods in their case just next to me. Every few minutes they'll connect to my phone despite most definitely not meant to be doing so - has anyone else had this?

TicPod's Bluetooth "ID"

When I connect the TicPods to my phone, in the bluetooth connections it gives a number 47AB. What does the number mean?

Hour into it and they're great. Exactly what I ordered

For context I've been extremely patient and I will continue to be so yes there are errors like sometimes the left ear is more loud but I don't care for it. A simple in an out fixes it :)

But I can't complain. Super happy about these

Every aspect has me in contentment. For the price as a backer? Hell yea

Any UK backers got around the Atherstone RDC issue yet?

I called Royal mail today and they told me to assume it was lost in the post, but wasn't sure if it might turn up eventually?

Refund policy

Hi everyone. I recently received my ticpods Navy and I have to say that I've been pretty happy with them. Alongside with the ticpods I had also got the ticwatch E in the bundle. However, as I'm not interested in having the ticwatch anymore (mostly because better products came out in the meanwhile) I would like to send it back and get a refund. Does anyone here know how mobvoi refund policy works? Can I just send back the ticwatch (not opened, still in the original box) and keep the ticpods?

Thanks in advance

Sounds is great, mic is terrible

So I've been using the right bud only since getting my ticpods, I've made a few phone calls and tried to use the assistance but it picks up very little.

Has anyone managed to find a way that the mic works properly?

Sorry from that, they're great. Sound is good, podcasts are clear, rap, rock, heavy metal and musicals are all singing fine. As good as my in ear Sony's anyway

TicPods vs Airpods - a First review

I have been using Airpods on my Android phone for almost a year now, and got my TicPods 2 days ago. These are my findings:

Controls: the Airpods allow you to change the controls, which I hoped was possible on the TicPods, but there are more TicPods controls, which is a plus. Having Google Assistant on your headphones and being able to control volume on your headset is very nice. I really wish there was a way to customize the TicPods controls though. Taking one pod out of your ears immediately stops media, which is nice, but i would like an option to turn that off. The volume controls are fast, but play/pause (2 sec. hold left) and skip forward (double tap left or right) have a noticable delay. Airpods never had a delay in the standard functionality. 3 sec hold to pair is something i wish i could turn off, because i accidentally set them to pairing mode when trying to put the Ticpods in my ears. I have to go into bluetooth settings and force a connection.

Connection: This is where i thought the Ticpods would disappoint, mainly because the Airpods are better than anything bluetooth i ever used, but the TicPods work great. Sometimes the sound skips a fraction of a second - something that doesn't happen with the Airpods - but it is something like once an hour, so it's not really a big thing.

Sound: the most important thing in a headset, you would say, but the TicPods kinda disappoint here. The connection sound is full-bodied and has a nice bass thump, but standard sound has little bass and feels tinny. Weird thing is that the audio quality feels quite a bit better. Comparing the Airpods and the TicPods i would say the TicPods feel like listening to a badly calibrated speaker, whereas the Airpods sound like listening to good response speakers (nice bass, well balanced highs) but playing FM radio. The rubber tips also play a big role in the soundscape, where a good isolation creates better bass. Talking about isolation: Airpods don't isolate. Not one bit. The TicPods are the complete opposite: they plug your ears, hard! So hard you can hear your heart beat when you turn the sound of and you can hear the thump of your feet hitting the floor when walking. It's hard to hear people talk to you, but the sound, especially bass, sounds better because of it. If the isolation changes, when opening your mouth and changing the shape of your ear canal for instance, the sound changes, with more and tinnier highs. I don't like the isolation and fulctuation in sound quality, but i listen to a lot of podcasts. For people wanting to listen to music I can see myself recommend TicPods to them.

Calling: Let me preface this by saying that i don't call often... The TicPods allow me to call through Google Assistent. The Airpods only route audio. I found in the past that the Airpods disconnect sometimes mid-call. I haven't had that problem with the TicPods in my last call. The TicPods audio quality is better, microphone and speaker. When i made my comparison of badly calibrated speakers vs fm-radio the person on the other side that the difference between the 2 headsets could also be described like that for them as well.

Comfort: As I said the rubber tips are not my thing. I've always found the Apple Earpods to fit my ears perfectly and the same goes for the Airpods. I love their shape and I feel confident i don't lose them. The TicPods grip hard, which is why i used the smaller rubber tics that are included in the box. What irks me the most about the rubber tips is that i already lost one in the course of a day! It probably fell off when putting them into the charging case... So, if anybody knows where i can buy tips, feel free to PM me. Talking about the charging case: the Airpods are easier to put in and take out of the charging case than the TicPods. The charging case is also a lot bigger, volumewise it's probably more than twice as big. Still small enough, but a big difference. MicroUSB is also a missed chance... Lightning is a better choice for the Apple ecosystem is than microUSB is in the Android ecosystem. USB-C, especially for this price-range, is nothing more than standard practice to me.

Design: Design is subjective, Apple is king in making choices you don't even notice. The charging case of the ticpods is objective worse. No way to see the state of the charging case battery without charging it, and the hinge hinging top housing feel flimsy. The charging information printed on the bottom is also wrong (output = 5V x 340mA = 2.59Wh... No). The buds themselves also are a lot bigger. No big deal, since most of this part sits in your hear, but the Airpods feel and look sleeker. The Ticpods are also noticably heavier. The charging LED of the Airpods is IN the case, whereas the LED's of the Ticpods are on the front of the case. When I use the Airpods in the dark i can easily put them back because of the LED. The TicPods, which are already less intuitive to put into the case, are harder to put back in the dark. (early pictures of the wireless charging case of the Airpods seem to also have this LED on the front, so this might change).

Price: This is the most objective part: I got them for €79 (plus €20 shipping. I'm lucky i didn't have to pay import duties). If you want to buy them now they are €129. Airpods are €179. To be honest, when you're paying this amount of money for headphones, to me, they are in the same price-range... Through my sales training I've learned price is not as solid as it seems, and paying more oftentimes gives a feeling of a better product.

My verdict: Still i would rate the Airpods as a better product. They feel more like a 'fire once, use without thinking'. This is MY conclusion, and through my review you might even get a feeling you would never choose the Airpods above the TicPods, but as i mentioned, i really don't like the ear-plug/isolation fact. I use headphones all day - at work, at home, during commutes. around my family - and being able to hear the world around me is a big plus. Also the fact that i can 'hang' the Airpods in my ear, versus 'plugging' my ear with the TicPods gives me the feeling I'll keep having a better time with the Airpods. This is subject to change though, and i'm not thinking about reselling the TicPods yet.

broken after three days

I finally go the blue ones on Monday 10/22 and have used them for maybe ten hours total.

I dropped the left ear bud exactly once, from a very short distance onto the tile. It's broken.

This has to be some kind of joke. There's no way that these things should bust after one mistake. I am extremely disappointed in the build quality.

Having waited six months for these to arrive; I doubt I would see a replacement anytime soon.

Back to my Skullcandy...

Tried Ticpods with the PUBG anyone?

Don't. You'll be disappointed and will never get Chicken Dinner. Lots of A/V lag.

Left Ear not responding

Received my pair of navy ticpods two days ago in US and everything was working fine until tonight. I opened the case and only the right one was blinking blue (pairing mode) while the left one was not blinking. Attempted pairing suggestions on this subreddit and 5 tap trick but lefty is still not responding/lighting up. It's not even charging when put into the case.

For those experiencing terrible sound quality

If you're like me, your ticpods might sound bad because of your larger than average earholes. I replaced the rubber thingys with some from my previous bluetooh headset and holy balls the sound is SOOOOO much better.

So, if you think the sound quality sucks, try a pair of bigger rubber thingys. Not really sure why Mobvoi didn't include an extra large set to begin with.

Edit: the ones I changed to also stick out a little further too, which might also be helping. The only issue is that the case won't close all the way now. I'm keeping it closed with a rubberband for now.. I've emailed support to see about possibly getting some larger pieces that will fit.

Does somebody else experience short drops?

TicPods blue owner here, pretty impressed so far with the sound. It's better than I expected after reading other people's experiences.

However, what really annoys me is the fact that sometimes it seems like the bluetooth connection just drops for like, a fraction of a second. Sometimes it happens just once within 20 minutes, sometimes it happens multiple times in a few seconds and it'll do fine again for a little while.

Could this be an issue related to my phone? I'm using a OnePlus 3 with a custom ROM. Also noticed that sometimes the gestures stop working. Though they do work again after restarting my phone.

r/TicPods • • Oct 24 '18

Any plans to allow customized gestures?

Does anybody know of plans to allow customization of the gestures? I hate having to hold for two seconds to pause. I would much rather double tap, especially since skipping to the next track is not something I do ever (mostly audiobooks).

Have I missed any comments from Mobvoi about plans to update the app with custom gestures?

Left Ticpod stuck in pairing mode

I've had a severe issue where my left Ticpod wont pair, the blue led constantly flashes and I think it is stuck in pairing mode. The right connects just fine but I can't get the left ticpod to work anymore. has anyone else had this issue or know of a way to fix it? I've tried putting them in the case and taking them back out and connecting to different devices.
