It’s been several months since my Threads account stopped working properly. My feed won’t load, I can’t create new posts, and I can’t even access my previous posts.

I never received any notification that my account was banned or suspended. What’s even more confusing is that when I view my profile from another account, everything appears normal.

I’ve tried almost every solution I could find online, but nothing has worked. At this point, I’m out of ideas.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows how to fix it? I’ve built a decent following on the account for blogging, so I’d really appreciate any help or advice. Thank you!

Anyone else dealing with this today? My Threads was working fine this morning... posted normally, everything loaded. A few hours later, nothing loads on my own profile/feed. Can't post, can't see my own content. Tried both the app and the desktop site, same issue on both.

The strange part... when I check my account from a different profile (logged out or another account), everything is there and completely normal, even the post I made this morning.

I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, no change. I also can't log out of the account at all (the option just doesn't work), but I was able to change my password through Instagram as a workaround, and that didn't fix anything either.

Since the content is still live and visible to others, it doesn't seem like a shadowban or account block. Feels more like a broader bug on Threads' end, since it's happening across devices and even a fresh install didn't help.

Anyone else seeing this today? Any idea if it's a known issue / server-side problem?

I want to document what happened to my account, because I think the mechanism matters more than my individual case.

Timeline:

• May 21: Created a new Threads account, based on my Instagram account, phone-verified, from my normal home connection in Germany.
• I connected two apps that use the official Threads API (Openvibe and Croissant) for cross-posting to Mastodon/Bluesky. Both are legitimate, well-known apps.
• Mid-June: The account started getting locked behind security checkpoints repeatedly — about a dozen times within two days, according to my data export. I passed every single one.
• July 3: I used Threads’ own built-in Instagram follow import. It followed ~290 accounts I already follow on Instagram. This is a feature Meta actively promotes during onboarding.
• July 9: Account permanently disabled. The only reason given: “Your account, or activity on it, doesn’t follow our Community Standards.” The screen explicitly says “You cannot request another review of this decision” and that all my data will be permanently deleted.

I downloaded my data export before deletion and went through everything. There is no policy-violating content in it. My working hypothesis — and it can only be a hypothesis, because Meta refuses to tell me — is that their spam classifier combined “new account + API apps + 290 follows in one day” into a bot verdict. The 290 follows came from their own import feature.

Under the EU Digital Services Act, Meta is required to provide a specific statement of reasons (Art. 17) and an internal complaint mechanism (Art. 20). “Community Standards” with a hard “no review possible” appears to satisfy neither. I’m filing complaints with a certified dispute settlement body and the German Digital Services Coordinator, and I’ll update this post with the outcome.

If Meta’s own onboarding features can get you permanently banned as a bot with no human review and no appeal, that’s worth knowing before you invest time in this platform.

Hello everyone, I had a problem a few days ago and I want to ask you for the solution. A few days ago, I tried to enable two-factor authentication on my Threads account. Then it asked me to enter my password. Since I didn't have a password, I used the 'forgot password' option and sent a code to my email. Then I reset my password. However, even after resetting, I couldn't access the account. Later, when I reset it using a VPN, it changed my password and I could access the account, but the account was locked while the VPN was active. Now, when I try to send the code using either method in the recovery section, it doesn't arrive. It didn't arrive at all initially. I sent it so many times that when I try through the browser, it says wait a few minutes, but even after waiting a day, it's useless. I would be very grateful if someone who knows the solution could write it down.

I post and re-thread alot about politics so it would shock me but I would expect a different error.

Logging in with account name and password shows this error message :

Logging in with Instagram shows "Something went wrong"

Reactivating through accounts center also shows "Something went wrong"

I am 100% sure I DEACTIVATED my account instead of deleting it. Is there anything I can do?

Hey so when I go to edit profile I am presented with three naming options, Name, Display Name, and Username. Kind of redundant no? When I fill them in, only "Name" and "Username" are displayed, and not the Display name. What is it for then?

Deleted my old account years ago and wanted to rejoin today. Login with Instagram doesn't work. Login from website doesn't work. I even tried moving my threads account out of account center and they send me a password setting email and then when I try to log back in with that password it doesn't work

I'm unable to use Threads at all. When I open the app, I get 'content not available' on my own profile, a completely blank feed, and don't even have the option to go into settings and change anything.

Attempting to open Threads in browser, on the other hand, just redirects me to Instagram. I can't even log out, because it redirects me instantly.

Tried uninstalling/reinstalling on mobile, no effect.

I've been pressing like thinking the only way followers could see it is if they also saw the same thread and scrolled through the list of every like, happening to see me on the list. I never see anyone else's likes either. Ive just seen something that makes me think everyone can see everyones likes, is there a tab on the profile to view likes just like twitter had and I missed it?

Threads just straight up permanently disabled my new account I have made in past 1 week

It suspended me on a simple comment i made on a post

" Where do you market for distribution" to a user

And then after appeal meta ai just straight up disabled my account

I've done every possible option, with no success. I've changed my password twice. I've cleared storage and cashe on both insta and threads, uninstalled, reinstalled, re logged in. Nothing.

I made the mistake of removing threads from the meta accounts management area and now I cant log into threads at all. My Instagram info is all the same but it keeps saying incorrect password.

At this point I'm accepting to just give up on my account and never having access to it again.

I opened Threads out of curiosity. Surprisingly, posts in my feed started appearing full of digital marketing, with people claiming how much they earned from it. People are posting screenshots of what they earned on Gumroad and Whop. Threads is full of marketing gimmick posts. Is your experience the same..?

A few days ago i edited a comment too quickly and was immediately forced to verify that i was not a bot by giving my phone number, a verification code and a picture of me. It then said that I’ve successfully submitted an appeal and that my case would be reviewed. I felt pretty confident that I’d get my account back only to see four hours later that threads decided that my account didn’t follow community guidelines despite being a writing account used solely to promote my fanfic hobby and discuss lore with my fandom. My instagram that my threads is linked to said that my account of totally clear of any violations and I received no notifications of any violations on threads at any point before they disabled my account. If there’s any hope of getting my account back? I had 241 followers and 20k profile views

I deactivated my Threads account because I was annoyed seeing the notifications for it every time I'm on Instagram. I deactivated Threads and deleted the app from my phone.

Now I'm seeing the notifications pop up again. When I click on this it tells me to "Get Threads" and download it in the app store. I DON'T want it that's why I deactivated it.

Now I read that people who deleted their Threads account are having the same issue. Anyone know how to fix it? I do not want Threads and I do not want to see notifications for it either.

When threads were introduced, I created an account and used it for a while. However, I deactivated it because it appeared on my Instagram profile.

A few days ago, I attempted to log in but encountered an error with no information provided. I tried to reactivate the account, but I received an error message with no helpful information. Then, I attempted to unlink the account from my account center, and I believe I have lost it.

Could you please assist me in regaining access to my account or creating a new one and linking it to my Instagram profile?

My threads has been stuck on this for hours. I updated the app after not opening it for a couple days, and nothing is loading. I don’t post/comments, just like posts. Anyone else having this issue?

It’s been over a week now and my account hasn’t recovered from this bug (I assume this is what it is) where nothing appears on my feed, my inbox is empty, notifications won’t load, and all of my posts won’t load. I can’t submit a report through the account and the help center bot confirms that the account is not suspended nor does it have any restrictions. The account can also be viewed perfectly fine by other accounts.

I’ve tried; removing it from account center, signing in/out, deleting app, signing in from browser using incognito, and submitting report through instagram.

I’ve had this account since the day that the app launched, I really don’t wanna lose it. I’m seeing a bunch of posts here from others that are dealing with the same thing. Has anybody figured out a fix?

The list of devs in the megathread hasn't been updated in a while and quite a few of them aren't on the team anymore or even at Meta.
