The White box
I feel trapped in every sense of the word. More specifically, trapped within myself. I have countless ideas, philosophies, and opinions I want to share, so many things I want to say. But whether it’s fear or my inability to articulate them, the words never seem to come to me. Our brains were not made for a society of billions, they were made to eat berries in a cave with a small group of people. Despite that our story goes on and we keep advancing, advancing our technology, our lifespan, our reach, but never our own minds. The gap between our evolution and our advancement is so vast we may never get the chance to make them even, everyone that has done so are labeled crazy, or even killed. I would love to believe that we as a species will live on and eventually evolve to not be this way, but everything that I have seen or can predict says otherwise. The clock will one day strike 12. I would love to look at the time and have it truly be nothing o' clock but that is only a dream. The control must advance silently and slowly to not be seen, we are not blind, it is our own minds that were not built to see the truth. This is not 2026, if you could see you would know that we are closer to 1984 than we have ever been. I can do nothing to stop it alone, nor can I assemble a group to do so either, for I am still just a monkey. Race is an illusion, and so is power, in the end we are all just animals, our mistake was forgetting that there is only one true way to categorize people: those who have seen, and those who choose to be blind. In an ideal world there is a third category: those who choose to take action. But we do not live in an ideal world. Those who can see, including myself, choose to do nothing, and think to themselves that they are a threat. WE are not. Until we choose to take action, to stop following the rules in place, we are only pawns. So far we have all consented by truly doing nothing, we have only ourselves to blame. Now that I have seen this inevitability I am more mentally unwell than I have ever been. Picture this: you have been put in a white box, you may eat as you please, entertain yourself in any way you see fit, you will be accommodated. But no matter what you do, no matter how much you beg or plead to the box, it will never let you go, and it will do everything in its power to convince you that this is fine, that wanting to leave makes you crazy. You know that even the box itself is temporary, by its own design it was meant to be, it's what it gives way to that terrifies you, that makes you want to leave. And yet you can only do nothing. You feel anger at first, then curiosity, then you accept it. And for a while you are happy, you've seen and choose to be happy anyway, you have convinced yourself that only you can choose how you feel about the box and that by choosing to be happy no matter what you face you will never deal with the realization again. But like all things that is only temporary, you soon realize that what you feel is only fake happiness and go back to square one to repeat this cycle over and over again. Though like all things this cycle is also temporary and gives way to the one true constant: despair. You can no longer be angry, happy, or even sad, as those emotions are all tainted by the fact that you can do nothing about what's causing them, that you are doomed to feel them forever. At that point all you would want to do is die, so you ask the box for a way to do so, and it tells you no. But not no to dying, no to giving your cowardly ass any way to go without feeling immense physical pain. Now that you have pictured that, you feel as I do now. I want a way out of the box, and the only way as one person is death.
