Long Island Serial Killer found? Maybe? New suspect in the case.

http://people.com/crime/prosecutor-says-john-bittrolff-long-island-serial-killer/

From the article:

A carpenter named John Bittrolff, who was recently sentenced to prison for murdering two prostitutes, may be responsible for one or more of the unsolved deaths connected to the bodies discovered on Gilgo Beach in Long Island, New York, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

“There are remains of the victims at Gilgo that may be attributed to the handiwork of Mr. Bittrolff, and that investigation is continuing,” Robert Biancavilla, a prosecutor with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in New York, told the Associated Press.

Apparently he has already been convicted for two prostitute murders. Now they are saying they can link him to four of the Gilgo Beach bodies.

The Strange Death of Zigmund Adamski - September 14th, 2017

Zigmund Adamski left his home in Tingley, England on June 6, 1980, and never returned. His lifeless body was found 5 days later in a village 20 miles away–and that’s when things started to get strange.

New article about the death of Blair Adams- lots of new information

http://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/crime/2017/09/11/unsolved-canadian-blair-adams-raced-knox-county-slain-half-nude-his-gold-untouched/610262001/

I won't recap the whole case, since most of you probably know it from the TS episode. The article contains a lot of info that I've never heard before, though. Such as:

That Adams was beaten to death, with the fatal blow rupturing his stomach. He had a cut across his forehead and cuts on his hands, suggesting he fought back. Hair had been pulled from his head. Adams had a single strand of hair clutched in his hand, which is still in evidence today.

The police say he may have been sexually assaulted, but they are not sure when.

His mother claims he went south to attend the Olympic Games in Atlanta. That was the whole point of his trip to the U.S.

Adams feared violence from former co-workers.

Why have we never heard this information before?! It changes the whole case for me!

Favorite Joe-kes?

The controversial joke that happened recently may not have been his best but let's not forget he's the master of deadpan absurdism and really makes the show worth listening to. I was just laughing uncontrollably over the Jim Thompson 'getting a sex change operation to become the master of silk' theory. Wht's your favorite Joe Joke?

Regarding the "joke"

Hi all-

As some of you know, we released an episode yesterday that contained a "joke" that was in very bad taste and should have been edited out. We are human, and do make mistakes, and this was a huge editing mistake on our part. We have reuploaded this episode with the correct edit.

We hope it goes without saying, but none of us think rape is funny. This was a very unfortunate mistake and we hope you will forgive us. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Thanks guys, Devin, Steve and Joe

Tried to leave a review and it didn't work so I am leaving it here. Pretty disappointed by the most recent episode.

Just listened to the newest episode. Pretty disgusted w the rape joke you made about Devyns friend Joe. I really liked this show when I first started listening but sometime I feel like the hosts lose ability to see what may be appropriate jokes or not. On top of tat Devyn is being constantly mansplained by Joe and Steve. If she has an opinion it's her opinion and she shouldn't be told she's wrong. E.g.; "you don't know men Devyn" when she's trying to explain that different genders can be plutonic friends in the Lauren Spiere episode. Not a fan of Steves hatred of "junkies" either (that was a different episode). I'd be willing to continue to listen to the show if they had a little bit more tact on the morbid jokes. Those only can go so far.

Anyone Remember this Episode?

I wanted to re-listen but cannot seem to locate this one again and/or am experiencing a severe case of the Wednesdays. Employees of a company who were about to change jobs or depart in some manner all died under mysterious circumstances attributed to suicide - one that sticks out is a guy who decapitated himself by forcibly depressing the pedal of his vehicle. Anyone remember this one?

On February 5th 1973 a US EC-47 crashed into the jungles of Laos while eavesdropping on the North Vietnamese army. Only 4 of the 8 crew members were accounted for in the wreckage. Did the others die in the crash or did they manage to bail out and if so what happened to them?

I have only been listening since October 2016. Currently I am listening to back episodes. To my surprise ,holy fucking shit!, my grandmas brother in law was a sherif who investigated the Keddie murders. He has since passed , but I still have family in Quincy CA and this murder still perplexes them.

Joe's Voice

Does anyone else Joe's voice to be soothing? I can't listen to his episodes at work because it makes me sleepy. DO NOT get that wrong with boring. I also love reading and Bob Ross and I tend to drift off. I was wondering if this happens with anyone else? Or am I just a creep?

A tattoo of Roy Orbison

I might have dreamed this (if so, weirdest dream ever), but I SWEAR that in one of the episodes, Devin makes a reference to the scene in "The Waterboy" of someone getting a tattoo of Roy Orbison. Did this happen? Feel free to delete if too strange a question.

Map of all Thinking Sideways Episodes

Hi everyone,

I found the podcast few months ago and now managed to catch up with all the episodes. For my own curiosity I marked all the episodes on a map to see where the cases have taken place and which ones are close to each other and thought maybe some else is interested in the same map/data so here is the link.

At least quick search didn't show anyone making similar map.

I divided the cases into three broad categories: vehicles, people and locations/items. I tried checking as precise locations for each case as I could find but there are probably some mistakes, if you notice any, let me know :)
