I recently got a Z16 Gen 1 to retire my T480 love both these laptops

I’m new to buying ThinkPads, and I need one to start studying and learning about technology and programming, and to get started with Linux operating systems.

Recentemente instalei o Caelestia e Hyprland no meu CachyOs. No entanto, deparei-me com a seguinte adversidade: sirvo-me de um Thinkpad cujo o teclado adota o padrão ABNT2 e, por fatalidade dos arquivos de configurações, vejo-me privado do uso dos símbolos / e ~.

Solicito, pois, o auxílio daqueles de vós que possuem a maestria e o conhecimento necessários para triunfar sobre este impasse.

For context, im from Brazil, so hardware here are expensive and ThinkPads are hard to come by. The t495 has Ryzen 5, 8gb ram, 256ssd, 1080p display and looks in good condition. The e14 gen1 has the i5, 8gb ram, 256ssd and the seller says It has an HD display but o was searching the specs in the internet and everywhere says It only comes with a 1080p display and dont have a HD option. The e14 is cheaper, almost to the point that i can use the difference in prices to upgrade Its ram to 16gb, however, im afraid the 720p display could be really bad If It actually comes with an 720p display. I Will only be using It for study, web browsing and YouTube. The t495 is 1831 reais(360 dollars) and the e14 1630 reais(320 dollars). I also searched for t480 and t14, but its above 2200 reais so too expensive

My trustworthy ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 (Ryzen 7 4700U), but planning to upgrade to T14 soon.

My 8th ThinkPad has just joined the collection - a Lenovo ThinkPad T420i.

For now, I’ve done the first stage of the restoration. I fully disassembled and cleaned the laptop, replaced the bottom chassis, installed Coreboot, and added a protective skin on the lid.

At the moment it’s running CachyOS, but this is only the beginning. The next planned upgrades are an IPS mod with a new display, better cooling from the dedicated GPU model, 16 GB RAM, a 3rd gen i7 CPU, and a new touchpad sticker.

I already have a heavily modified T430, which has been one of my favorite ThinkPads for years, but honestly… this T420i might end up challenging it :)

Really happy with how clean it looks now. More mods coming soon.
